Dragon Theater Opens Season with RX by Kate Fodor Tonight

What if there were a happy pill that could take away all the stresses and strains of life? That's the premise of Rx, the latest play from Kate Fodor (100 Saints You Should Know). Deftly balancing sardonic shots at Big Pharma with a tender love story between a clinical researcher and a patient taking part in a drug trial, Rx is 'a winning combination of light satire and romance.' Theatre @ Boston Court Presents SE LLAMA CRISTINA, Now thru 2/23

The Theatre @ Boston Court presents Se Llama Cristina, by Octavio Solis, directed by Robert Castro. This production is the final stop on the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere, which included productions at The Magic Theater in San Francisco and Kitchen Dog in Dallas. Opening night is Saturday, January 25, 2014 on the Main Stage at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue.

NOCTURNE by Adam Rapp to Begin Performances 1/31 at The Other Space

Gregory Mayo and Irma Productions have announced their production of Nocturne by Adam Rapp, featuring George Regout and directed by Justin Ross. Previews begin on January 31 and opening is set for Saturday, February 8 at 8pm. Nocturne will play a limited engagement through March 9 at The Other Space @ The Actors Company in West Hollywood.

Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.) has announced that tickets to the new musical ARLINGTON by Victor Lodato and Polly Pen -- with previews set to begin Wednesday, February 12 prior to its official opening night on Sunday, March 2 - will go on sale Monday, January 6 at 1 p.m..

Alexandra Silber Set to Lead Vineyard Theatre's ARLINGTON

Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.) has announced the dates, creative team and leading actress for its next production - the new musical ARLINGTON by Victor Lodato and Polly Pen - with previews set to begin Wednesday, February 12 prior to its official opening night on Sunday, March 2, according to Douglas Aibel, Artistic Director, and Sarah Stern, Co-Artistic Director.

Believe Theatrical to Host Public Reading of Rebecca Gilman's BLUE SURGE; Rachel Brosnahan to Star

On December 2nd, Believe Theatrical will host the first public reading of Rebecca Gilman's screenplay adaptation of Blue Surge at the Pater Jay Sharp Theater, 416 West 42nd Street. Michael Walker (Price Check) will direct the stellar NYC cast to be led by Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards) and to include Jayce Bartok (The Cake Eaters), Phil Burke (Hell on Wheels) and Kate White (Fall to Rise), Autumn Dornfeld (Law & Order), Katy Wright-Mead (The Knick) and Patrick James Lynch (Peter & The Star Catcher) among others.

Synge.

High school seniors of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) got the graduation ceremony of their dreams on Saturday, May 18, when Disney Theatrical Group President Thomas Schumacher delivered their commencement address, and the diplomas were presented by 'Mary Poppins' herself: UNCSA alumna Rachel Wallace. A 2009 college graduate, Wallace just completed a run in the national tour and the New Zealand company of the popular Disney show. Scroll down for photos from the ceremony!

National New Play Network Announces 15th Anniversary Celebration: PERMANENT COLLECTION

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces the 15th Anniversary Celebration performances of Permanent Collection by Thomas Gibbons. A staged reading of the original Rolling World Premiere will be presented on Monday, April 22 at Core Member Theaters across the country, including Actor's Theatre of Charlotte (Charlotte, NC), InterAct Theatre Company (Philadelphia, PA), Kitchen Dog Theater (Dallas, TX), Riverside Theatre (Iowa City, IA), Salt Lake Acting Company (Salt Lake City, UT), and Unicorn Theatre (Kansas City, MO). Gibbons' award-winning play has gone on to more than 30 productions across the country and around the world since it was first produced in 2003.

KCACTF's 45th Annual Festival Kicks Off in D.C. Today

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts previously announced national awardees for outstanding work from the regional festivals that were held January 8 through March 3, 2013. Individual awardees and a representative from each of the outstanding productions will travel to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for an expenses-paid trip to participate in the 45th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), today, April 15-20, 2013.

Stages Rep Begins DOLLHOUSE Regional Premiere Tonight

Eva Laporte directs the regional premiere of Rebecca Gilman's Dollhouse, a 2004 Goodman-commission adapted from Ibsen's A Doll's House. Set at the cusp of the economic downturn of the past decade, Gilman's Dollhouse explores the economy of a relationship in America. The play is particularly poignant in the after-math of the mortgage crisis and the continuing economic struggles in America.

Southern Rep Presents PINTS & PLAYS, 4/22

Southern Rep continues its 'New Plays New Orleans' mission with PINTS & PLAYS, a reading series presented monthly at the Rusty Nail that features selected works read by local actors. This month's reading is PERMANENT COLLECTION by Tom Gibbons. PINTS & PLAYS takes place this month on April 22nd, at 7:30pm. Our partner on this new project is The Rusty Nail, 1100 Constance Street, New Orleans, LA. Tucked away on the edge of the Warehouse District, The Rusty Nail can be a bit hard to find.
