The Night of a Thousand Gowns celebrating the LGBT community - the colorful cross-dressing segment of that community -took place on Saturday, March 26 in New York City. In its twenty-five year history, the Court has donated over a million dollars to worthy LGBT, HIV/AIDS and youth enrichment related causes. This year the Night of a Thousand Gowns expects 1,000 attendees to raise important funds for the Ali Forney Center and the Trevor Project.
'All My Children' stars Walt Willey and Bobbie Eakes co-hosted the Grand Finale Celebration of 'ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares' in New York City on March 13, 2011. Mr. Willey and Ms. Eakes have been part of the benefit since the very first production in celebration of 'All My Children's' 35th anniversary show.
The 24th Annual Night of a Thousand Gowns benefit, held on Saturday March 27, honored famed director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Featured performers included actors from 'Football Strip' and Stimulus Package,' Broadway star Terri White, music artist Crystal Waters, pop singers Kristine W. and Kelly King, and drag queens Coco Peru and and Jesse Volt. Hundreds of Broadway, TV and film stars crowded the sidewalks of Shubert Alley at the 21st Annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market and Grand Auction on Sunday, September 23.
The 2007 Broadway Flea Market and Grand Auction raised a total of $559,810, beating the 2006 total of $505,832. Over the past 21 years, the Flea Markets and Grand Auctions have raised a total of $7,262,372.
