Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo to Perform at Mannes School of Music This Weekend

The celebrated Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will appear at the Mannes School of Music on Sunday, February 19 at 4PM. In celebration of Mannes' centennial year, Michael Newman and Laura Oltman will perform works by composers associated with Mannes which include Aaron Copland, Clarice Assad, as well as current composition faculty members Paul Moravec, Lowell Liebermann, David Loeb and Robert Cuckson.

The Crypt Sessions Presents Matt Haimovitz in Concert by Candlelight on September 23

On September 23rd, cellist Matt Haimovitz will give an intimate candlelight performance in the underground crypt beneath The Church of the Intercession in Harlem, part of Unison Media's acclaimed Crypt Sessions concert series (as featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, NPR,WQXR, The Christian Science Monitor, Agence France-Presse, and more).

Composer Robert Paterson Celebrates World Premiere of THREE WAY, New Recordings and More in 2016-17

The 2016-17 season is an exceptional year for Robert Paterson, the New York-based composer whose music has been praised for its elegance, wit, rhythmic vitality, and wonderful sense of color that 'often seems to shimmer.' He will have the first evening-length, fully-staged opera production of his career: Three Way, a trio of comic operas with libretto by David Cote 'about craving and connection,' co-produced by Nashville Opera and American Opera Projects, will have its world premiere in Nashville and its New York premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo and Sergio Assad to Perform at New York Guitar Seminar, 7/10

The celebrated Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will perform at the 16th New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes on Sunday, July 10. Brazilian composer and guitarist Sergio Assad and his daughter, pianist and vocalist Clarice Assad will join the Duo in works by the Assads, Milton Nascimento, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Celso Machado, Alfonso Montes & Irina Kircher, Carlos Lyra, and Gilberto Gil. The concert will be held at 7:30pm at Tishman Auditorium at University Center, 63 Fifth Ave., corner of 13th St.  Michael Newman and Laura Oltman are the founders and artistic directors of the seminar (www.mannesguitar.com) which takes place July 6 - July 11, 2016.  Concert tickets are $25.00; $15.00 for students/seniors.

PENTATONE Oxingale Series Releases Schubert Remasters

Two of Schubert's great masterpieces – as well as two of cellist Matt Haimovitz's most personally significant recordings – are now remastered and rereleased in SACD surround sound on the PENTATONE Oxingale series – the fifth release since PENTATONE and Oxingale Records joined forces at the beginning of 2015.

Canticum Novum Singers & Members of New York Virtuoso Singers Partner for World Premiere

The Canticum Novum Singers and members of The New York Virtuoso Singers, Harold Rosenbaum, Conductor and Artistic Director will join together for the World Premiere of Roberto Sierra's Missa Latina in its two piano, five percussionist and soloists arrangement by the composer, on Sunday, May 15 - 3:00 PM at The Kaye Playhouse @ Hunter College, 68th St. and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. This is presented in conjunction with Centro: The Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College CUNY.

Michael Newman and Laura Oltman will perform the music of Dušan Bogdanovi?, Johann Kaspar Mertz, Paul Moravec, Alfonzo Montes & Irina Kircher and Isaac Albeniz. The concert will be held at 8:00 at the Shea Center for the Performing Arts.

The celebrated Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will appear at the Mannes School of Music's new location on Friday, March 11, 2016. Michael Newman and Laura Oltman will perform the music of Dušan Bogdanovi?, Johann Kaspar Mertz, Paul Moravec, Alfronso Montes & Irina Kircher and Isaac Albeniz. The concert will be held at 8:00pm at the Ernest C. Steifel Concert Hall, Arnhold Hall, at 55 West 13th Street.  Admission is free and open to the public.

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts presents a special event series and artist residency: 'Matt Haimovitz Plays Bach In Concert at Miller Theatre' tonight, October 22, 2015, 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 24, 2015, 8:00 p.m., with spontaneous campus performances on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 and Friday, October 23, 2015.
