Syfy Teams with Bradley Cooper & More to Develop HYPERION

Syfy announced today it is teaming with Oscar-nominated producer Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Oscar-winning producer Graham King (The Departed, Argo) and Todd Phillips (The Hangover, Old School) to develop Dan Simmons' Hugo Award-winning best-selling novel Hyperion as an event series.

El Rey Network announced today the launch of their original series 'El Rey Network Presents: The Director's Chair' on iTunes. The hour-long series features the industry's most notable directors engaging in a revealing and unexpected exchange with filmmaker and El Rey Network founder, Robert Rodriguez. Episodes at launch will include the previously-aired Quentin Tarantino Volumes 1 & 2 (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn), John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from L.A., They Live) Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, The Strain), Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather, The Conversation, Apocalypse Now); and Luis Valdez (La Bamba, Zoot Suit).

Broadway In Chicago has announced Evan Rachel Wood (Thirteen, The Wrestler, Across the Universe) will join the cast of “FOR THE RECORD: DEAR JOHN HUGHES,” an immersive, concert event showcasing the works of beloved Chicago native John Hughes, at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E. Chestnut) the second week of performances March 12 – 15, 2015. Evan Rachel Wood will replace Rumer Willis who will play “Basket Case” in the first week of performances March 5 – 8, 2015. Willis will be returning to Los Angeles to prepare for her upcoming, just announced debut on Season 20 of ABC's “Dancing With The Stars.'

Jeff Robinov's Fosun-backed Studio 8, together with Chinese distribution company Bona Film Group, will partner with Tom Rothman's TriStar and Film4 on the adaptation of Ben Fountain's acclaimed novel Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, to be directed by three-time Oscar-winner Ang Lee. The deal brings together several members of the family of companies at Sony Pictures, which will distribute the film worldwide, except for Greater China, which Bona Film Group Ltd will handle.
