Sierra Stages will present the acclaimed 2001 Pulitzer Prize-winning play PROOF by David Auburn, May 1-18 at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley.

Friday night, April 11th, Kevin James Doyle surprised his co-star Margaret Copeland by announced her impending engagement before the sold-out audience at Off-Broadway's comedy smash, HOW TO BE A NEW YORKER. During the curtain call, Kevin hushed the crowd (which included former New York Governor George Pataki!) and revealed Margaret's recent engagement to Colin Hunter, CEO of Alton Lane Custom Clothing. Although Margaret had only shared the big news with her immediate family at this point, she rolled with the punches like a true New Yorker and brought Colin on stage to ecstatic cheers from the audience and a standing ovation.

Last week, the audience received a special surprise at Off-Broadway's comedy smash, HOW TO BE A NEW YORKER. At the point in the show where an unsuspecting audience member is brought up on stage for a brief tutorial on how to be a true New Yorker, the show's stars snared Tabitha Hernandez from the Bronx who was sitting in the front row. Before long, Tabitha's boyfriend Ruben Pacheco also jumped up to the stage, dropped to one knee and popped the question. He presented the ring, Tabitha happily accepted through her tears, and the entire audience roared with approval. Check out a video of the proposal below!

Carla Ching's comedy Fast Company, about a family of Asian American con artists on the trail of a million-dollar comic book, opens tonight (March 17) at 7:00pm for its New York premiere at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street.

Due to overwhelming demand, the producers of Off-Broadway's hit comedy HOW TO BE A NEW YORKER today put a new block of seats on sale through Labor Day. Written and performed by Margaret Copeland and Kevin James Doyle, HOW TO BE A NEW YORKER began performances August 22, 2012 at Sofia's Downstairs Theater where the show played to packed houses for more than a year. The production reopened on October 19, 2013 to unanimous rave reviews at the brand new Screening Room Theater at Planet Hollywood Times Square, 1540 Broadway (entrance on 45th Street just east of Broadway).

Sierra Stages and Wolf Gait Studio will offer a unique workshop led by local actor Robert Rossman this Saturday (March 8) from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sierra Stages Rehearsal Studio in Nevada City. 'THE ACTOR MOVES: An Introduction to Movement and Physicality for the Theatre' introduces actors, artists, and theatre lovers to a basic foundation of movement and physicality for the theatre. The goal and focus of the workshop is to build the confidence that your body knows what to do - thus ending the age-old question, 'What do I do with my hands?'

The Sierra Stages production of the landmark musical comedy COMPANY by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth is now playing through March 23 at the historic Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. The original 1970 Broadway production of COMPANY was produced and directed by Harold Prince. The show received six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It has returned in two award-winning Broadway revivals, and was recently broadcast on PBS in a concert version with Neil Patrick Harris as Bobby. The show's many Sondheim standards include 'Company,' 'Side by Side by Side,' 'The Ladies Who Lunch,' 'Another Hundred People,' 'Barcelona,' and 'Being Alive.'

Following their 2013 national tour, Buran Theatre returns to the New York City stage with MAGIC BULLETS, a new hybrid theatre work that entertains a "trip" through health and wellness in modern America. '

The cast also includes Ben Hardy, Kirsty Oswald, Alister Cameron and Tom Colley.
