The Dessoff Choirs Announces Holiday Line Up

Hailed as “one of the great amateur choruses of our time (New York Today) for its “full-bodied sound and suppleness (The New York Times),” The Dessoff Choirs celebrates the holidays as part of its 92nd season. This year, it presents a trio of concerts featuring seasonal repertoire and contemporary arrangements of carols, including Handel's Messiah, the quintessential classical music highpoint of the Christmas season; Bach's Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, BWV 230, Gregg Smith's Twelve Days of Christmas; and Robert Parsons's Ave Maria, to name a few. Aurora Theatre Company continues its 22nd season with the Bay Area Premiere of Samuel D. Hunter's edgy and earnest A BRIGHT NEW BOISE. The show will run November 8-December 8, 2013. In the break room of a Hobby Lobby craft store in Idaho, the seemingly innocuous Will, an ex-Evangelical cult member who has fled his rural hometown after a scandal involving his fundamentalist church, applies for a job. Will doesn't really want the job, but his estranged son works at the store and Will is a man on a mission - to bond with the boy before the impending Rapture occurs. Enlisting the aid of his new co-workers, a group of eccentric characters who are also struggling to find their way, Will tries to reconnect with his son before the end of the world. Called "funny, compassionate and disturbing all at once" by the LA Weekly, A BRIGHT NEW BOISE offers a quintessentially American slice of life look at the minimum-wage working class and the challenges of modern faith.

ARCADIA at American Conservatory Theater Extends Through 6/16

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today that due to popular demand, A.C.T.'s 'dazzling' (Bay Area News Group) production of Tom Stoppard's masterwork, Arcadia, has extended through Sunday, June 16, 2013. A KILLER STORY Opens 4/12 in Berkeley

The Marsh Berkeley presents a night of mystery, mayhem, and cold-blooded murder with the World Premiere of A KILLER STORY, written by Dan Harder and directed by Michelle Haner. A KILLER STORY is a fast-paced, entertaining 'noir' tale about a tough, bright sleuth who outsmarts everybody, including himself as he attempts to find a missing scientist who is on the verge of creating the revolutionary/evolutionary 'brain chip.'

Marin and Encore Theatres' CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION Extends thru 9/2

Co-producers Marin Theatre Company and Encore Theatre Company announced today that, due to extraordinary ticket demand, they will extend Circle Mirror Transformation by eight performances. Bay Area audiences now have the opportunity to experience the regional premiere of Annie Baker's award-winning play through Sunday, September 2.
