Theater Project to Present RFK Reading at Maplewood Memorial Library, 11/2
by Tyler Peterson - Oct 15, 2013

JFK, LBJ, MLK, RFK - to millenials, this could mean anything from a cable TV network to some new I-phone app, but for an older generation, these initials conjure the giants of the 20th century. In 1968, the fatal shooting of Robert Francis Kennedy less than 5 years after the assassination of his older brother shook a nation already reeling from the murder of Martin Luther King only two months before. In 2013, the 50thanniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is being observed across the nation. The Theater Project, a professional company in Maplewood, NJ, will honor the Kennedy legacy with a reading and discussion of the play RFK by Jack Holmes. The play uses many of Kennedy's speeches to evoke his persona and present his political views. The event will take place at the Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker Street, at 2 PM, Saturday, November 2. Admission is free.

BWW Reviews: MARILYN... MADNESS & ME - A Curiosity at El Portal's Monroe Forum
by Don Grigware - Sep 28, 2013

Frank V. Furino's world premiere play Marilyn MADNESS & Me, like the film My Week with Marilyn, puts a lesser known character in the lead and Marilyn is seen through his eyes, eyes filled with more than just lust and obsession...with real love for Norma Jean. Now at the El Portal Monroe Forum, the play, although still in the rough stages, presents an engrossing slant on the human side of Norma Jean, how she affected one average human being, as well as presenting a panorama of historical events of the 60s, woven together by a curiously fictional thread.

The event and many others inspired her to write her father's story in her book, 'No Tears for Ernest Creech: A Forgotten Man in 'The Great Society'(published by AuthorHouse).

BWW Reviews: Macha Theatre Presents the Image of Marilyn in a Somewhat Different Light
by Don Grigware - Apr 3, 2013

Two months from today Marilyn Monroe fans will celebrate what would have been her eighty-seventh birthday. It's hard to imagine her at such an advanced age, considering her beauty, vivacity, and girlish manner. Her death was indeed tragic, but it has left us with an image of Marilyn with her charms undiluted by advanced age.
