Photo Flash: Piper Perabo Leads VIP Reading of TWELFTH NIGHT at Bay Street Theater

The Bay Street Shakespeare Initiative and Hamptons Shakespeare Festival presented TWELFTH NIGHT, OR WHAT YOU WILL by William Shakespeare last Friday and Saturday nights at Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor, NY. The cast included Piper Perabo (Covert Affairs), who starred as Viola. Both readings were free and we well attended. Scroll down for a look at the cast onstage!

Westport Country Playhouse to Host THE COUNTRY CLUB Reading, 6/22

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of 'The Country Club,' a wry comedy by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane, on Monday, June 22, at 7 p.m., followed by a post-performance 'Meet the Cast' reception in the courtyard. Director is Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Tickets are $20 each.

James Conlon Gives Keynote Address at the Colburn School's 'MUSIC, CENSORSHIP AND MEANING IN NAZY GERMANY' Today

Sel Kardan, President and CEO of the Colburn School announced today that James Conlon, artistic adviser to the Colburn School's Ziering-Conlon Initiative for Recovered Voices, will deliver the keynote address at the two-day, public symposium 'Music, Censorship and Meaning in Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union: Echoes and Consequences,' today, August 9, 2014, at the Colburn School.

Winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, an exciting new play from the playwright behind the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights. Elliot Ortiz is back in the States after serving in Iraq, reconnecting with family and starting a new life. At the same time, four strangers in an internet chat room seek support to face demons of their own, and soon the real world and the virtual one start to intersect in unexpected ways. The Hartford Courant calls Water by the Spoonful "funny, warm, and uplifting, with characters that stay with you long after the play is over!" Water by the Spoonful runs through May 11, 2014 at the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre (Conrad Prebys Theatre Center). BroadwyaWorld brings you a first look at the cast in action below!

Rey Lucas, Robert Eli & More to Star in The Old Globe's WATER BY THE SPOONFUL, 4/12-5/11

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the California premiere of Quiara Alegria Hudes' Water by the Spoonful, winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Directed by Edward Torres, Water by the Spoonful will run April 12 - May 11, 2014 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run April 12 - April 16. Opening night is Thursday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.TheOldGlobe.org, by phone at (619) 23-GLOBE, or by visiting the Box Office at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park. In conjunction with local organizations Combat Arts and So Say We All, The Globe will also host an ongoing exhibit of art by returning veterans, and an evening of local veterans performing stories they have written about their service.

Colburn School Announces $1 Million Donation for Ziering-Conlon Initiative for Recovered Voices

Sel Kardan, President and CEO of The Colburn School, announced today the establishment of The Ziering-Conlon Initiative for Recovered Voices at the Colburn School. Los Angeles philanthropist Marilyn Ziering has made the Initiative possible with a generous $1 million gift to Colburn. The Initiative builds upon the Recovered Voices project at LA Opera, established to support conductor James Conlon's long-term commitment to bring attention to the works of important composers whose music was suppressed during the Nazi years in Europe.

Hartford Stage Opens 50th Anniversary Season with LA DISPUTE in Rep with MACBETH, Now thru 11/10

Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts, presents Classical Repertory for a New Generation, the theatre's new initiative to produce two classics in repertory each season, featuring a new adaptation of Marivaux's La Dispute, in repertory with Shakespeare's Macbeth, both directed by Tresnjak, the first shows of the Tony Award-winning theatre's 50th Anniversary Season.
