Actress Abbie Cornish has landed roles in two highly anticipated films, reports Variety. Cornish will play the female lead in 'Dark Fields', opposite Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro, and she will also star in 'W.E.', a period piece based on King Edward VIII's romance with Wallis Simpson, co-written by Madonna and Alex Keshinian. Madonna is also slated to direct 'W.E'.
The 2010 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by American Express, the Founding Sponsor of the Festival, today announced its remaining out-of-competition feature film selections in the Encounters, Discovery, Cinemania and Spotlight sections. According to Variety, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper have signed on for the suspense thriller 'The Dark Fields', set to begin production in May. The plot revolves around down-and-out Gotham writer, played by Cooper, who comes into possession of a designer drug that gives him newfound success. De Niro plays a financial mogul who pursues Cooper's character.
David Del Rio is making his Broadway debut as Sonny in In The Heights. A recent graduate of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, School of Film & Television, he is best known for his starring role in Nickelodeon's supernatural hit comedy, 'The Troop,' where Del Rio plays Felix, a shy teen trying to keep the global monster population under control. Del Rio's previous stage credits include The Elephant Man, Next to the Last Hamlet, The Odyssey and Joe: The Musical.
