The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA Los Angeles) announced today that it will rename its Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment in honor of Albert R. 'Cubby' Broccoli, pioneering producer of the James Bond franchise.
Working Title Films has commenced production on Joe Wright's epic love story Anna Karenina, adapted from Leo Tolstoy's classic novel by Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love). The film will shoot in the U.K. and Russia. Focus Features will distribute the movie domestically, and Universal Pictures International (UPI) will distribute the movie internationally.

Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones have announced that the role of 'Stella' will be played by two-time Tony Nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega and the role of 'Mitch' will be played by Wood Harris, in the upcoming Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire directed by Emily Mann. Focus Features and LAIKA, the two companies behind the Academy Award-nominated animated feature Coraline are reteaming for LAIKA's next two projects.

In a landmark deal in its scope and quality of high profile titles, USA Network has acquired the network television rights to over 30 films from Universal Pictures, it was announced today by Jane Blaney, executive vice president, programming, acquisitions & scheduling, USA and Frances Manfredi, executive vice president/general sales manager, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.
According to Deadline.com, both Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro are in talks to join the cast of The Weinstein Company's 'Silver Lining's Playbook.' The film is based on a novel by Matthew Quick, and will be directed by David O Russell.
