Produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, this year's Easter Bonnet Competition (#BroadwayBonnets) was held at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre (200 West 45th Street), home to Disney's The Lion King. Featuring performances by more than 230 Broadway and Off-Broadway singers and dancers, the Broadway Inspirational Voices and a stellar lineup of Broadway favorites, this year's fundraising total was a whopping $5,528,568!
The Actors Fund recognized its 2016 Medal of Honor recipients at its annual gala, last night, April 25, 2016 (6pm) at the Marriott Marquis. Honorees included actor and producer Michael Douglas, producer and singer/songwriter Emilio and Gloria Estefan, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, American prima ballerina Cynthia Gregory, and director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw. The National Jewish Theater Foundation, in association with The York Theatre Company, will present a special one-night only performance of CABARET IN CAPTIVITY: Songs and Sketches from Terezin/Theresienstadt, as part of the second annual Holocaust Theater International Initiative Remembrance Readings. The event will take place on Sunday evening, May 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

In addition, beginning July 7, 2016, CAGNEY will play Thursday afternoon matinees at 2:00 p.m.
Friar Laura Slutsky hosted a lunch at the Friars Club with invited guest Robert Creighton the star of the hit musical Cagney now playing the The West Side Theatre. The event was co-produced by Riki Kane-Larimer and Friars filled the Milton Berle Room for a lively lunch and many interesting stories about all thing Cagney, Cohan, and Creighton.

It was ten months ago when composer/lyricist Robert Creighton buck and winged it to the York Theatre with a spirited and gutsy performance as the screen's greatest tough guy song and dance man, James Cagney. His pocket-sized musical vehicle, Cagney, while certainly rousing and entertaining, came off then as a promising work in progress; one that needed more heat to match the potential of its dramatic moments.

Last night's first off-Broadway preview of CAGNEY was quite special, as two member of James Cagney's family were in attendance. Sitting in the front row were Cagney's great niece Patricia Cagney Mack and her daughter Kelly Mack, visiting from California. Mrs. Mack's grandfather was Dr. Harry Cagney, older brother of James.
