Anime Momotaro is a staging of a famous Japanese folktale that teaches powerful lessons about inner strength and the ability to stand up against bullying. Created and premiered by the Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Imagination Stage is bringing Eric Johnson (adaptor/director) and Alvin Chan (adaptor/choreographer) from Hawaii to develop an expanded version for Imagination Stage audiences.

American Lyric Theater (ALT) announces that the live recording of its first commissioned opera, The Golden Ticket, a comic opera by Peter Ash and Donald Sturrock based on Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is now available for pre-order from Albany Records on Amazon.com. The Golden Ticket will be officially released on CD this December 1, 2012.

Tickets will go on sale next Wednesday, November 28 for the Whidbey Children's Theatre production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Junior, which opens December 7 and closes December 22.

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, adapted for the stage from the MGM Motion Picture by Jeremy Sams and Ray Broderick with music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman will open at Sydney's Capitol Theatre from tonight, 16th of November. Hennepin Theatre Trust today announced that 56 schools will participate in the 2012-13 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program, including five new schools and nine from greater Minnesota. Now in its eighth successful year, SpotLight is the Trust's flagship education initiative which honors, supports, provides training and advocates for Minnesota high school musical theatre students and programs. MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be holding an open call for the role of Matilda in New York City today, September 30th at Pearl Studios (519 Eighth Avenue, 12th Floor, between 35th and 36th streets). P.Nokio, written by hip-hop theatre artist and playwright Psalmayene 24 and called "inspired and quirky" by The Washington Post, updates the classic Pinocchio story with a new beat for today's audiences.
