Accepting Submissions for 2017 National Music Theater Conference

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, a two-time Tony Award winner and latest recipient of the National Medal of Arts, is now accepting projects for development during the 2017 National Music Theater Conference. Applicants may submit music theater works for consideration through Friday, November 18th, 2016.

The Ziegfeld Society of New York City presents the second show of its Eighth Season on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 3:30pm CALL MY PUBLICIST! - THE STARRY EDUCATION OF A BROADWAY PRESS AGENT. Billed as "An Insider's View of the Theatre's Glamour and Folly," at Lang Recital Hall, Hunter College, 107 East 69th Street, (bet Park & Lexington Ave).  The autobiographical play with music is written and performed by Joshua Ellis, with direction by Gretchen Cryer, with musical direction and arrangements by Mark York.

HAMILTON's Sydney James Harcourt to Lead NYC Reading of POPSTAR Musical

An invitation-only reading of the new musical PopStar will take place on Thursday, October 20 (2pm) and Friday, October 21 (11am) at Pearl Studios (500 Eighth Avenue, Studio #1204). PopStar features a book by Martin Casella, music and lyrics by Jay Levine and Sophie Dupin and is conceived and directed by Sharon Rosen.

Riverside Theatre Presents RING OF FIRE

Riverside Theatre, led by Producing Artistic Director/CEO Allen D. Cornell and Managing Director/COO Jon R. Moses, starts its 43rd season with the celebrated musical featuring the music of American Icon, Johnny Cash, in Ring Of Fire. Sponsored by John & Marilyn McConnell and Riverside Theatre's Patron Producers' Group, Ring Of Fire plays the Stark Stage from October 25 through November 13, 2016.  

Breaking News: Katie Rose Clarke and Nicholas Christopher Join MISS SAIGON on Broadway!

Katie Rosie Clarke (as Ellen) and Nicholas Christopher (as John) are the latest additions to the the cast of Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON, which begins performances Wednesday, March 1 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). Directed by Laurence Connor (LES MISERABLES, School of Rock), the Broadway return of MISS SAIGON will feature its American stars, Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer and 20-year-old Eva Noblezada as Kim, who created their roles in the West End to great acclaim. Rachelle Ann Goand Devin Ilaw have also recently joined the cast, as Gigi and Thuy. The lead male role of Chris will be announced later this month. Opening night for MISS SAIGON will be Thursday, March 23. MISS SAIGON will play a limited engagement throughJanuary 14, 2018 before launching a North American tour later in the year.

Holiday Inn, The New Irving BerlinMusical opened officially last night, October 6, 2016, on Broadway at Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street). WaterTower Theatre Announces Cast and Creative Team for RING OF FIRE

WaterTower Theatre Managing Director Greg Patterson and Associate Artistic Director Kelsey Leigh Ervi today announced casting and creative team details for the Regional Premiere of Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash, Directed by B.J. Cleveland, with Musical Direction by Sonny Franks. Created by Richard Maltby Jr., Conceived by William Meade, with Orchestrations by Steven Bishopand Jeff Lisenby, Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash will run October 7-30, 2016 in the Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre. The cast features Spencer Baker as Eddie, Ian Ferguson as Mark, Sonny Franks as David, Katrina Kratzer as Trenna, and Brian Mathis as Jason.

Breaking News: Garth Drabinski's SOUSATZKA Will Take Broadway Bow in 2017; Victoria Clark, Montego Glover & Judy Kaye Set to Star

Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership (Richard Stursberg, CEO) today announced the world premiere of the Garth Drabinsky production of Sousatzka, the new musical by three-time Tony Award®-nominated book writer Craig Lucas and the legendary composing team of Tony Award® winner Richard Maltby, Jr. (Lyrics) and Academy Award® winner David Shire (Music). Choreographed by ten-time Tony Award® nominee Graciela Daniele and directed by Adrian Noble, Sousatzka will begin performances on February 25, 2017 at Toronto's historic Elgin Theatre (189 Yonge Street), and officially open on Thursday, March 23. Tickets will go on sale, via Ticketmaster, on October 17. Sousatzka's pre-Broadway strictly limited engagement is scheduled to run through April 9, 2017.

Garth Drabinsky Sets MADAME SOUSATZKA Musical For Broadway Return

Deadline has reported that producer Garth Drabinsky's musical adaptation of the novel that inspired the 1988 Shirley MacLaine film, Madame Sousatzka, will arrive on Broadway next fall following an out-of-town tryout in Toronto this spring.
