16th Street Theater, a part of the North Berwyn Park District, announces the one-night-only staged reading of Hillel Levin's WAKE directed by Ann Filmer performing Sunday, February 13 at 6:00 PM at the nationally-recognized music venue FitzGerald's Nightclub at 6615 Roosevelt Road in Berwyn.
The Gift Theatre will tackle Richard Greenberg's Night and Her Stars in a new production directed by Michael Patrick Thornton beginning this March. This elegant play is about the quiz show scandals of the 1950's, reacquainting themselves and their audience with the cautionary tale of Charles Van Doren, the young academic who made and destroyed his name on the question-and-answer show '21.' Thornton says, "As Gift marches towards our ten year milestone, we look to a play we fell in love with long ago and has stayed with us ever since. Night & Her Stars is big and messy and smart and beautiful and it is a joy to bring it to The Gift. Enjoy."

George Milton looks after his mentally-disabled friend, Lennie Small, as they travel looking for work. The two men hope to one day settle down on their own piece of land, but their plans of living the American Dream prove difficult to achieve. Michael Patrick Thornton starred as John Merrick last season in Steppenwolf for Young Adults' production of The Elephant Man. As a director, Michael has helmed productions at The Gift Theatre Company, where he is co-founder and artistic director. He received a Joseph Jefferson Award for his performance in Gift's production of The Good Thief. The design team includes: Courtney O'Neill (sets), Branimira Ivanova (costumes), Charles Cooper (lights), Miles Polaski (original music and sound) and John Tovar (fight choreography). Kathleen Petroziello is the stage manager.

Legendary composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim will no longer appear before the Ravinia Festival in Chicago's August 11th performance of Gypsy, starring Tony Award-winner Patti LuPone as Rose.
