URINETOWN and More Slated for BoHo Theatre's 2017 Season

BoHo Theatre is thrilled to announce plans for its upcoming 2017 season. Building on its rich, 13-year history, BoHo continues to bring an eclectic mix of musicals, dramas, and classic plays to Chicago stages focusing on emotional human relationships.

Cast Announced for Midwest Premiere of THE ASSEMBLED PARTIES

Raven Theatre Associate Artistic Director Cody Estle has announced a "blended family" of new and familiar Raven faces for the company's Midwest premiere of The Assembled Parties, which in 2013 earned a 2013 Tony® Award nomination for Best Play. The play by Richard Greenberg, author of Take Me Out, Three Days of Rain and many other plays, will open on Raven Theatre's East Stage under Estle's direction on Tuesday, January 31, following previews from January 25 - 30, 2017.

Hail a Cab for August Wilson's JITNEY, Opening Tomorrow on Broadway

A friendly reminder! The long-awaited Broadway debut of August Wilson's Jitney, directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson (The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars, Gem of the Ocean), opens tomorrow, today January 19, at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Michele Selene Ang, Enid Graham & More Will Lead LCT3's BULL IN A CHINA SHOP

Michele Selene Ang, Enid Graham, Lizbeth Mackay, Crystal Lucas-Perry, and Ruibo Qian will comprise the cast of the LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater production of BULL IN A CHINA SHOP, a new play by Bryna Turner, to be directed by Lee Sunday Evans.  BULL IN A CHINA SHOP  will begin performancesSaturday evening, February 11, open on Wednesday, March 1, and run for six weeks only through Sunday, March 26 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Lena Hall, Marisa Tomei & More Join HOW TO TRANSCEND A HAPPY MARRIAGE

 Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop) has announced that Lena Hall, Brian Hutchison, David McElwee, Naian Gonzalez Norvind, Omar Metwally, Austin Smith, Marisa Tomei, and Robin Weigert will be featured in the cast of its upcoming production of HOW TO TRANSCEND A HAPPY MARRIAGE, a new play by Sarah Ruhl.  The production, which will be directed by Rebecca Taichman, begins previews Thursday, February 23 and opens on Monday, March 20 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street). 

Works & Process to Offer a Behind-the-Scenes Look at WAR PAINT

On Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 7:30pm, Works & Process at the Guggenheim offers a behind-the-scenes look at WAR PAINT, the new musical by librettist Doug Wright, composer Scott Frankel, lyricist Michael Korie, and director Michael Greif in advance of the Broadway opening on April 6, 2017.

Ilana Becker to Join Company of Fools in New Associate Artistic Director Position

Company of Fools (COF) is pleased to announce that Ilana Becker has been appointed to the new position of Associate Artistic Director. After conducting a national search that yielded more than 80 qualified applicants, Company of Fools' and Sun Valley Center for the Arts' leadership determined that Becker's expertise and passion for theatre made her the ideal candidate for the position. In her new role, Becker will assist newly promoted COF Artistic Director John Glenn and contribute to The Center's education initiatives and BIG IDEA programs. Glenn, who was recently honored with the 2016 Idaho Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, assumed leadership of Company of Fools following the recent departure of his co-artistic director, Denise Simone.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced full casting for Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of Linda, a new play by Penelope Skinner (The Ruins of Civilization at MTC, The Village Bike) directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow (The Assembled Parties, Wit).

Theatre Nova Adds Leadership Positions to Management Team for 2017

Theatre Nova, Ann Arbor's professional playwrights' theater, now finishing up its second year of operations, is proud to announce additions to its leadership team. Founding Artistic Director, Carla Milarch, will be joined by Diane Hill and David Wolber who will both serve as Producing Artistic Directors. These experienced administrators will join the existing Theatre Nova team of Daniel C. Walker, Becky Fox, and Emilio Rodriguez in their quest to establish the group as a major theatre destination. The new, expanded team is excited to help lead the organization forward and is preparing for a number of new and exciting developments including announcing a "Supra-Season," establishing a season subscription program, continuing to improve the facility, and announcing special partnerships in the community. Theatre Nova is making a name for hot-off-the-press new works, with plays such as the new musical "Irrational" by David Wells and R. MacKenzie Lewis, and local playwright Kim Carney's poignant new work, "Katherine," along with "Mr. Joy" by Daniel Beaty, all recent critical and box office hits.

Breaking News: PRINCE OF BROADWAY Will Officially Arrive in 2017!

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have just announced that Manhattan Theatre Club, by special arrangement with Gorgeous Entertainment, will produce the Broadway premiere of Prince of Broadway, a musical celebration that highlights the extraordinary six-decade career of director and producer Harold Prince. Prince of Broadway will start previews Thursday, August 3, 2017 for a Thursday, August 24, 2017 opening night at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

BWW Review: Richard Greenberg's THE BABYLON LINE Is a Warm and Funny Excursion

The Long Island Rail Road doesn't have a station in Levittown, so the central character of Richard Greenberg's clever, sentimental and occasionally steamy drama travels the play's namesake, THE BABYLON LINE, to nearby Wantagh, in order to arrive at his weekly gig teaching creative writing to adults, most of whom are only there because their preferred classes were full.
