This summer, it's "almost like being in love!" Goodman Theatre produces the first large-scale, professional revival of Brigadoon -- Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick's Loewe's legendary musical of Broadway's Golden Age -- in more than three decades. Under director/choreographer Rachel Rockwell, a company of 28 actors, dancers and singers breathe new life into the enchanting tale of an 18th century Scottish village that appears every century for one day only -- and the complications that arise when it's discovered by two 20th century Americans. With adapter Brian Hill, Rockwell revisits the libretto for this production, while music director Roberta Duchak and an orchestra of 13 use new orchestrations to enhance Loewe's lilting score.

Monday night, April 28, New York Conservatory presents a rare treat. We're used to concerts and benefits on the household names of musical theatre - especially the Golden Age - but here's one dedicated to one of the Great White Way's unsung heroes - Herbert Greene. A shrewd producer, natural conductor and orchestrator, and gifted composer, Greene was behind some of Broadway's classic productions. He worked side-by-side with Meredith Willson on the legendary The Music Man and with Frank Loesser onMost Happy Fella; built the enthralling orchestrations behind Sondheim's Anyone Can Whistle, a musical ahead of its time, even influencing the addition of a song which was a veiled 'Love Note" to Lee Remick; and even trained Broadway luminaries likeamong them were Rex Harrison, Rosalind Russell, Angela Lansbury, Barbara Cook, Robert Preston, Don Ameche, and Judy Holliday.

The Broadway universe has a multitude of stars deserving of praise, New York Conservatory picks a bright and prolific one - singer, actor, conductor, arranger, producer, and even voice doctor - Herbert Greene. A true unsung hero of the American Musical Theatre.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced Tony Award winner Rosemary Harris will play the role of 'Eleanor Swan' in the Off-Broadway premiere of Tom Stoppard's Indian Ink, directed by Carey Perloff. The production will begin performances on September 4 and open Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Centre for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).

Despite what a man says about a woman, he cannot live without her, and vice versa. We were born to live in a love/hate relationship, to be at each other's throats and in the next second, rolling around in the hay. It's all a part of life and Shaw, Lerner and Loewe displayed the ups and downs of romantic living better than anyone else...period. Now in a loverly production at Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theatre, patrons are in for a real treat through March 16.

A previously unseen and newly acquired photograph of one of Britain's most important actresses, Vivien Leigh, and her husband Laurence Olivier, taken at the height of their celebrity status will go on display at the National Portrait Gallery tomorrow (Friday 1 November 2013). The photograph will be shown alongside two rarely seen portraits of the couple to mark the start of the Gallery's programme celebrating the centenary of Leigh's birth.

Noel Harrison, known internationally for his songs, as well as his roles in the theatre world, died on October 19th from a heart attack.
