Rebecca Luker, Doug LaBrecque & More Set for Grant Park Music Festival, 7/17

It'll be a grand night for singing on Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. as Christopher Bell conducts the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus in a salute to the legendary team of Rodgers and Hammerstein at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium Park. Joined by guest artists Rebecca Luker, Doug LaBrecque and William Michals, they will showcase the music of Oklahoma, South Pacific, The King and I, Carousel and The Sound of Music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, along with favorites from Kern and Hammerstein and Rodgers and Hart. The concert is free.

This viciously witty comedy tackles, head-first, the unthinkable concept of a country in the midst of an economic depression. Unemployment, health care, human rights you name it. It's a riotous cast of character, assembled as only possible in the always-surprising imagination of G.B.S.

Last month, the Broadway community gathered together to celebrate the life and show business legacy of beloved Broadway performer Kevin Gray at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street). The Majestic Theatre held a special place for Mr. Gray, having starred there in The Phantom of the Opera, first as Raoul and later as The Phantom. MARRY HARRY is an official selection of the 2013 New York Musical Theatre and will be presented by the New York Musical Theatre Festival. MARRY HARRY has a book by Jennifer Robbins, music by Dan Martin, lyrics by Michael Biello, music direction by Christopher McGovern, choreography by Wendy Seyb, and is directed by Kent Nicholson. MARRY HARRY will play at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center, beginning July 19 - July 28. Rebecca Luker to Star in THE LITTLE DANCER at the Kennedy Center, Oct 2014?

Rebecca Luker announced on the Tonys red carpet tonight: 'I'll be doing THE LITTLE DANCER musical at The Kennedy Center in about a year and a half.' According to the AP, the show is inspired by a Degas sculpture called 'Little Dancer Aged Fourteen', and features book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, with music by Stephen Flaherty and direction and choreography by Susan Stroman.
