Made In New York Jazz Competition Opens Submissions; Deadline 10/15

There have been many jazz contests held through the years, but the one created by the Made In New York Jazz Competition is unique. Mikhael Brovkin, the founder of the competition, explains. 'There are many great international jazz talents who we may never know of because of their lack of access to the world jazz stage, but the Internet has changed all that. It wouldn't be possible 3-4 years ago. The technology today is amazing. Social media revolutionized many industries and it is time for JAZZ now! ' At this stage in the competition, there have already been entries submitted by musicians from all over the world and the judges (saxophonist Joe Lovano, trumpeter Randy Brecker and drummer Lenny White), each of whom are world famous, have joined the board of Made In New York Jazz Competition.

Frank Catalano Performs at The Iridium Tonight

Frank Catalano makes his Savoy label debut with 'Bang!' Bang! debuted at #12 on the Billboard Jazz Charts. Frank's previous CD, 'Mighty Burner' was on the Billboard Charts for 20 straight weeks. Catalano is the only known saxman to have performed with Miles Davis, Randy Brecker, Charles Earland, Elvin Jones, Stan Getz, Betty Carter, Von Freeman, Tito Puente, Tony Bennett, Les Claypool and Louis Bellson while still in high school!

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET to Celebrate 2,000 Performances in Chicago Tomorrow

Tomorrow marks an exciting landmark for Million Dollar Quartet. The Chicago production is celebrating 2,000 performances. To mark the occasion, original MDQ cast member (now on the National Tour) Kelly Lamont will join the company for a 'Sitting in with the Band' appearance during the encore. The company will celebrate with a specially-designed cake, courtesy of The French Pastry School.

High School Vocalists to Compete at SONGBOOK Regionals this Weekend in New York

High school vocalists from New York and Connecticut will compete on Saturday, June 15 at a regional for the Great American Songbook Vocal Academy & Competition. Sponsored by the Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Initiative, the annual endeavor is the only U.S. competition dedicated solely to the music from Broadway, Hollywood musicals and the Tin Pan Alley era of the early to mid-twentieth century.
