Walnut Street Theatre concludes its landmark 203rd season with an all-new production of Broadway's BUDDY: THE Buddy Holly STORY. Directed and choreographed by Casey Hushion, the show opens tonight, May 23rd, and runs through July 15th on the WST Mainstage. Christopher Sutton (Buddy), says this is the first time in the history of the Walnut Street Theatre that the same actor has played the same role twice. Sutton plays opposite his wife Lyn Philistine as Maria Elena. See photos of the couple and the rest of the cast on stage below!

Flashpoint Theatre Company is closing its season with the World Premiere of Jacqueline Pardue Goldfinger's Slip/Shot. Goldfinger has emerged as a playwright in the region, with her World Premieres of the terrible girls (Azuka Theatre, 2010) and Hershel & The Hanukkah Goblins (Gas & Electric Arts, 2011). Slip/Shot will run from April 11 to May 5 at the Adrienne's Second Stage, located at 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA. Opening night is Friday, April 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $22 general admission and $15 for students/seniors For more information, please visit www.flashpointtheatre.org.

2011 Barrymore Awards Honors Terrence McNally, Arden Theatre et al.; Recipients Announced

Surprise and gratitude ruled the 17th Barrymore Awards on Monday, October 3 at the Walnut Street Theatre. Presented by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, the black-tie ceremony, directed by Jay Wahl and hosted by 6ABC's Rick Williams, celebrated the work of local theatre artists as well as the vibrancy of the region's theatrical offerings with 27 awards.

The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 66 voters who each saw 8 of the 147 shows nominated this year. Four additional awards-Excellence in Theatre Education and Community Service Award, the Ted and Stevie Wolf Award for New Approaches to Collaborations, Brown Martin Philadelphia Award and the F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist-will also be distributed at the ceremony.

11th Hour Theatre Company Presents Co-Production of THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL, 6/3

This June, 11th Hour Theatre Company is moving Armadillo Acres, Florida's most exclusive trailer park, to the Arcadia Stage at the Arden Theatre and giving city audiences and audiences around the area a second chance to see their raucous and hilarious co-production with Montgomery Theater of The Great American Trailer Park Musical.
