The McAninch Arts Center (MAC) is pleased to present a free concert by The New Lionel Hampton Big Band with Jason Marsalis, Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. This incredible band featuring world-class musicians who played with the legendary Lionel Hampton will perform a memorable mix of jazz, swing and bebop. This concert was originally scheduled for the Lakeside Pavilion this past summer as part of the WDCB LIVE Jazz Concert Series but was cancelled due to the impact of poor weather on the band's air travel. The rescheduled concert is presented in partnership with WDCB 90.9 FM Public Radio from College of DuPage. There are no advance reservations. The box office will begin to hand out tickets at the MAC day of show, starting at 2 p.m.

This year's gala commemorates the Foundation's 25th year and honors Founder Sir Elton John. President Bill Clinton, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Sharon Stone, and others will pay tribute to Elton John's achievements as a philanthropist and humanitarian. The legendary Aretha Franklin will be the special musical guest, along with performances by violinist Joshua Bell and Broadway's The Lion King, featuring Heather Headley. Neil Patrick Harris will host the event.

An eclectic lineup is featured this month at Blue Note Hawaii with an array of iconic national artists, local favorites and hilarious comedians. The Henry Kapono Artist to Artist Series continues with Jerry Santos of Olomana, followed by local greats Shawn Pimental and Lehua Kalima, one-man wonder Tavana, Kapono N??ili?ili, Brother Noland and of course the incomparable Willie K. The Blue Note Hawaii Comedy Series continues this month with Steve Byrne and Louie Anderson. National recording artist and GRAMMY Award-winning R&B icon Regina Belle kicks off the month and is book ended with a capella phenoms Take 6. More artists this month include bandoneon player JP Jofre and his Nuevo Tango Quartet, the amazing flamenco guitarist Ottmar Liebert and pop singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson. Musicals at Richter (MAR), celebrating its 33rd season as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut, continues its summer season with 'West Side Story,' the explosive musical retelling of the Romeo and Juliet story set against the backdrop of rival street gangs in 1950s New York City. Staged on the grounds of the Richter Arts Center in Danbury July 7 through 22, performances take place outdoors under the stars Friday through Sunday evenings at 8:30 p.m., with additional specially discounted performances on Thursday, July 13 and 20.
