Roxanne Goodfellow, artistic director and general manager of the recently re-opened Marines Memorial Theatre, today announced the start of 'New Works @ The Marines' - a series showcasing new and emerging works in theatre, music, dance, film and other media from artists in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. A host of British stage and screen stars are set for the upcoming wartime film 'The King's Speech,' surrounding George VI's struggles overcoming his stammer. The film is to be directed by Tom Hooper, most recently of the acclaimed The Damned. Shooting began on the film late last week.

Internationally renowned musical theatre producer/director Hugh Wooldridge will lead a master class on musical theatre for Tennessee Repertory Theatre on Monday, November 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. Most recently, Wooldridge adapted and directed the Tim Rice/ABBA musical, Chess in Concert, at London's Royal Albert Hall, with a cast that included Josh Groban, Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal and Marti Pellow.

In addition, ASTEP will present a concert to celebrate the release of the CD on December 14th.
