To celebrate the O'Neill's 50th anniversary and influence, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts will present Launchpad of the American Theater: The O'Neill Since 1964, a new free multimedia exhibition on display in the Vincent Astor Gallery May 17 through September 16, 2014. The exhibition will chart the journey of American theater at the O'Neill from its past to present and future, and explore the creative development of its playwrights, composers, students, puppeteers and performers.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center is one of 895 nonprofit organizations nationwide granted federal funding through an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, announced last week by NEA Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa. According to the Hartford Courant, the State of Connecticut has just approved a $3 million grant to the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center to create a new National Music Theater Institute. The program will launch in Fall 2014 and will include 'seven new dormitory cottages creating living spaces for 65people, a laundry building, a new rehearsal hall and conversion of an existing structure into a production facility.'

On Monday, May 13 Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for Theatre honored Ruth and Stephen Hendel and Ming Cho Lee at their Gala Evening. The evening was held at the Angel Orensanz Foundation (172 Norfolk Street) in New York City, cocktails started at 6pm and dinner started at 7pm. Jessica Hecht was the emcee of the evening; the Gala co-chairs were playwright Lydia R. Diamond and interior designer Jasmine M. Keller. The Gala honorary chairs were Anne Kaufman, Obie award-winning director; Nelle Nugent, Broadway producer; Judith O.
