The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) is hosting a NEW WORKS READING SERIES to support new plays and emerging playwrights. Opening on May 22, Marathon 2009 will feature world premieres of 10 one act plays and will run through June 27. For the fourth consecutive year, The Cleveland Play House presents FusionFest, the only multidisciplinary performing arts festival at a regional theatre in the country, from April 29-May 10, 2009. The festival will offer a sampling of international and 'other-worldly' works, including an ancient Japanese art form, Dogugaeshi, by master puppeteer Basil Twist, performances by Charles Ross of his One-Man Star Wars Trilogy, and a world-premiere adaptation of Thorton Wilder's comic novel Heaven's My Destination, by Tony-award nominee Lee Blessing and commissioned by The Play House expressly for FusionFest with support from The Roe Green Foundation.

Seth Gordon, Associate Artistic Director for The Play House, will direct this hilarious and touching sneak-peek into the inner-life of famed columnist Ann Landers.
Marin Theatre Company Artistic Director Jasson Minadakis and Producing Director Ryan Rilette are pleased to announce the winners of MTC's American Play Prizes. The 2009 Sky Cooper New American Play Prize has been awarded to Sharr White for Sunlight. He will receive a $10,000 award accompanied by the world premiere of Sunlight during the MTC 2009-2010 season in the Boyer Theatre. The 2009 David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize has been awarded to Emily Schwend for Carthage. Ms. Schwend will receive $2,500 and Carthage will be included in MTC's Nu Werkz staged reading series during the 2009-2010 season.
