Szymanowski Quartet to Return to Segerstrom Center with Joseph Kalichstein in January 2015

Segerstrom Center's Chamber Music Series continues on Saturday, January 31, 2015 with the acclaimed Szymanowski Quartet. For its third appearance, the Warsaw-based ensemble will perform traditional, popular and rare works by Polish composers Marcin Leopolita, Wac?aw of Szamotu?y, Krzysztof Penderecki and Graz?yna Bacewicz. Pianist Joseph Kalichstein makes his Center debut performing Chopin's Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52 and Dvor?a?k's Piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 8. There will be a free Preview Talk by musicologist and author Herbert Glass at 7:15 p.m. in Samueli Theater.

The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony will be kicking off its 15th anniversary season with a pair of concerts featuring the world renowned clarinetist Stanley Drucker in a performance of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto. The concerts will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 8PM and Sunday, November 9th at 3PM at All Saints Church, 230 East 60th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in New York City.

Vladimir Jurowski Leads London Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall Tonight

Vladimir Jurowski, Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage tonight, Thursday, October 16 at 8:00 p.m. to lead the orchestra in a program that includes Magnus Lindberg's Chorale; Shostakovich's Symphony No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 65; and Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43 featuring pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association Announces 4th Consecutive Year of Record Fundraising and Ticket Sales

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association (CSOA) released its fiscal year 2014 results at its Annual Meeting today at Symphony Center. The 2013/14 season marked the CSOA's fourth consecutive year of record-breaking ticket sales and contributions, according to Jay Henderson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the CSOA, who presented the artistic and financial highlights of the season.

Prague Philharmonic Choir Coming to Harris Center, 11/10

The Italian Academy hosts the inaugural concert of *The Stefan Wolpe Fund featuring world premieres and works by Charles Wuorinen, Jonathan Dawe, Matthew Greenbaum and William Anderson on Thursday, October 30th at 8pm. Also on the program, a New York premiere for string sextet by Charles Wuorinen. Featured artists: JACK Quartet, pianist Steven Beck, Vox n Plux, violist Miranda Cuckson and cellist Jay Campbell. This concert was produced by Zaidee Parkinson and Alanna Maharajh Stone with generous support from *The Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Releases PROKOFIEV: SUITE FROM ROMEO AND JULIET

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra's (CSO) fourth CSO Resound recording with Music Director Riccardo Muti, Prokofiev: Suite from Romeo and Juliet, will be released internationally on Tuesday, September 23, the same date that iTunes will begin its exclusive pre-order in the U.S. While scheduled to be released for sale via retail and download outlets in the U.S. on October 14, the CD will be available exclusively in the CSO's Symphony Store, at 220 S. Michigan Ave., at the CSO's Symphony Center home, beginning September 16.

Leonard Slatkin will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct the New York Premiere of The Marie-Josee Kravis Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse's Flute Concerto, with Principal Flute Robert Langevin as soloist; Copland's El Salon Mexico; Ravel's Gaspard de la nuit (orchestrated by Marius Constant), marking the Philharmonic's first time performing the complete work; and Ravel's Bolero, Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 31 at 7:30 p.m. (performed without intermission); and Saturday, November 1 at 8:00 p.m.

This season, celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato curates a multi-part Carnegie Hall Perspectives series that showcases her vocal creativity and multifaceted talents, ranging from programs that include familiar and forgotten repertoire from the Baroque and bel canto eras to works by Jake Heggie written expressly for her.
