INTO THE BEAUTIFUL NORTH Extends to 6/17 at 16th Street Theater

16th Street Theater's 10th Anniversary Season continues with the National New Play Network rolling world premiere of INTO THE BEAUTIFUL NORTH by KAREN ZACARÍAS adapted from the novel by LUIS ALBERTO URREA and co-directed by ANN FILMER and MIGUEL NUÑEZ, April 13 - June 17, 2017 at North Berwyn Park District's 16th Street Theater, 6420 16th Street in Berwyn.

Jeff Awards 2017 Non-Equity Nominations Announced

The Jeff Awards announced, via a special video presentation, a total of 127 nominations in 26 categories for the 44th Annual Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2016, and March 31, 2017.  Hosting the video presentation were Alexis Roston and Lillian Castillo, who will be this year's Mistresses of Ceremonies at the Awards event on June 5 at The Athenaeum.

Coeurage Theatre Company Announces 2017 Season

Coeurage Theatre Company in Los Angeles (Jeremy Lelliott, Artistic Director; Nicole Monet, Executive Director), now beginning its eighth season, has announced its upcoming slate of three plays including Nicky, a world premiere by acclaimed LA playwright Boni B. Alavarez, Emilie: La Marquise du Chatelet Defends Her Life Tonight by Lauren Gunderson, and The Secret in the Wings by Mary Zimmerman.

BWW Review: FAILURE: A LOVE STORY Opens the Block Party Series at the Kirk Douglas Theatre

'Failure: A Love Story' chronicles the lives, loves and deaths of the three Fail sisters (June Carryl, Margaret Katch, and Nicole Shalhoub) and the one man with the double moniker Mortimer Mortimer (Kurt Quinn) who fell in love with each of them but not at the same time. Set against the backdrop of 1920s Chicago, this touching, whimsical tale explores the impermanence of life and the permanence of love, especially among devoted family members. The 'failure' in the title refers to poor Mortimer's inability to ever marry any of the three sisters after falling in love with them, as the untimely deaths of the three sisters happen before any marriages can take place.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) has announced its 2017/18 season: The Crucible, the Tony Award-winning American classic by Arthur Miller directed by Steppenwolf Artistic Producer Jonathan Berry, and the world premiere of The Burn by Chicago playwright Philip Dawkins directed by Devon de Mayo. SYA's 2017/18 Season explores the question, When you Say it Enough, Does a Lie Become the Truth?

Victory Gardens Theater presents the UP CLOSE & PERSONAL Series

Victory Gardens Theater announces the lineup for the Up Close & Personal Series, running April 27 - June 4, 2017. The Up Close and Personal Series includes A Little Bit Not Normal, written and performed by Arlene Malinowski; St. Jude, written and performed by Ensemble Playwright Luis Alfaro; and Where Did We Sit on the Bus?, written and performed by Brian Quijada. Shows in the Up Close & Personal Series will run in rotating repertory in the Richard Christiansen Theater at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

Center Theatre Group's Block Party begins with the opening of the Coeurage Theatre Company production of "Failure: A Love Story" this Sunday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. Written by Philip Dawkins and directed by Michael Matthews, "Failure: A Love Story" will run through April 23, 2017, with 11 performances only.
