The New York premieres and world premiere production of Gordon Getty's Scare Pair, a double-bill by the San Francisco-based composer, pairs his two one act-operas -- Usher House and The Canterville Ghost - together for the first time on October 19 and 21 (7:30pm) at The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at East 68th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues).

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced Lincoln Center's 2017 White Light Festival, which runs from October 18 through November 15. With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."

Boston Court Performing Arts Center will bring another daring year of theatre and music events to Southern California to their 2018 season. Artistic Directors Jessica Kubzansky, Michael Michetti and Mark Saltzman have programmed dozens of eclectic, globe-trotting, and genre-crossing concerts as well as three new theatrical productions including two premieres.

As a centerpiece of its 25th anniversary season, HERE (Kristin Marting, Artistic Director and Kim Whitener, Producing Director) will present the world premiere commission of Thomas Paine in Violence by 2016-17 HERE resident artist Paul Pinto (thingNY, Varispeed, Robert Ashley) and directed by Obie-winner Rick Burkhardt (Here Be Sirens, Three Pianos, Nonsense Company).

Thanks to support from Edinburgh City Council and Studio Wayne McGregor, dancer and choreographer Matthew Hawkins will be working with Red Note Ensemble 'cellist and Co-Artistic Director, Robert Irvine, on a new version of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Vesalii Icones, to be premiered in 2018.

This August, Carriageworks presents Sydney Chamber Opera's (SCO) new co-production with Victorian Opera, Benjamin Britten's opera in two acts, The Rape of Lucretia. Directed by Helpmann Award Winner, Kip Williams, the production stars Mezzo Soprano Anna Dowsley (Le Nozze di Figaro for Opera Australia; SCO's Ich habe genug) in a career-defining title role. Conducted by SCO's Artistic Director, Jack Symonds, Costume Design and Associate Direction is by Elizabeth Gadsby; Set Design is by David Fleischer; and Lighting Design is by Damien Cooper. Six performances of this world premiere season will be presented at Carriageworks from 19 - 26 August 2017.

Philadelphia Orchestra Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin and President and CEO Allison Vulgamore today released The Philadelphia Orchestra's 2017-18 season. Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, presents the US premiere of Kurt Weill's Song-Suite for Violin and Orchestra, arranged by Paul Bateman, and the West Coast Premiere of Bruce Adolphe's Violin Concerto 'I Will Not Remain Silent,' which is dedicated to Rabbi Joachim Prinz and his friendship with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., today, January 21, 8 pm, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, and Sunday, January 22, 2017, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall.

As part of its unique annual Hands-on-Opera education and youth performance program, Opera Parallele (OP) will present the world premiere of Xochitl and the Flowers, by OP composer-in-residence Christopher Pratorius. Based on the children's book of the same name by Jorge Argueta and with a libretto by Opera Parallele's Roma Olvera, three free performances will be presented November 17 and 19 at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts in San Francisco. The fully staged and costumed production will be developed during an innovative eight-week residency with third grade students of the Alvarado Elementary School Spanish Immersion Program in San Francisco, assisted by the Opera Parallele creative team and professional singers. Performances will be given Today, November 17, at 6 pm and Saturday, November 19, at 11 am and 1 pm at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, 2868 Mission Street in San Francisco.
