Peter Mac's Carnegie Hall opening night was a 1961 & 1984 flashback. Gedde Watanabe attended last night's, April 20th, opening performance of Peter Mac's Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall show at the French Market's Showroom.

On Wednesday night's episode of the ABC comedy DON'T TRUST THE B---- IN APARTMENT 23 entitled 'Daddy's Girl', dating is awkward enough, but when you add Chloe into the mix, it grows tenfold, which June learns the hard way when she begrudgingly allows Chloe to set her up.

Tribute Artist, Peter Mac will recreates Judy Garland's 1961 Carnegie Hall show from start to finish on April 20, 21, 27, & 28 at the new Peter Mac Showroom inside The French Market at 7985 Santa Monica Boulevard, Suite 104, West Hollywood, CA 90046. This is my 7th Peter Mac show since August. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of the man and his talent, which must be experienced up close to be fully appreciated. He is the current master tribute artist, making Garland totally his own. As Margaret O'Brien herself said, it's like an evening up close and 'personal with Judy Garland', and Mac gives so very much of himself to the singing and banter, that it's uncannily infectious. He could read/sing the phone book, and that would be OK too, as audiences will listen. Once a Peter Mac fan, you are hooked, baby! This show Judy Garland's Lost Easter Special with special guests DJ Schaefer as Bea Arthur, Alissa Cote as Lorna Luft, Glory Gale as Liza Minnelli and David Marker as Joey Luft, very similar to the Christmas Special in December at the Gardenia, is a lot of uproarious fun, obviously because it takes liberties in its originality and in not copying an actual special. But it's every bit as spontaneous, warm and loving as Garland's own family-oriented program.

Judy Garland's The Lost Easter Special, starring tribute artist Peter Mac, currently showing April 6-14 at 8 p.m. at the new Peter Mac Showroom inside The French Market at 7985 Santa Monica Boulevard, Suite 104, West Hollywood, Calif., has added two shows on Easter Sunday, April 8, at 1 and 7 p.m.

ABC will debut its new comedy series DON'T TRUST THE B---- IN APARTMENT 23 on April 11. In the pilot episode, June (Dreama Walker) moves to Manhattan for a dream job and the perfect company apartment, only to have them disappear in a puff of reality, thanks to a CEO from the Bernie Madoff school of embezzlement.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida, directed by Rob Melrose, at 8 pm. Saturday, March 31 in the New Theatre. The play will run through November 4. Troilus and Cressida joins Chekhov's Seagull, adapted and directed by Libby Appel, also playing in the New Theatre, and Romeo and Juliet, Animal Crackers and The White Snake, which run in the Angus Bowmer Theatre.

The first two weeks of April will be Judy Garland's The Lost Easter Special' on stage with Judy, her three kids and good friend, Bea Aurthur! Then the last to weeks is 'Judy at Carnegie Hall', Peter Mac celebrates the 51st Anniversary of Judy Garland's concert by recreating it just as Garland did in 1961.

Opening night for "Ghost Light" at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre saw luminaries from the world of politics converging for the production - a play that examines the struggle of a son coming to grips with the death of his father, San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, who was assassinated in 1978.

Some great things are already happening at the very beginning of 2012. Peter Mac now has his very own showroom inside the French Market Place on Santa Monica Boulevard in the heart of WeHo called the French Quarter Restaurant Showroom. The room seats 65 and has the warm atmosphere of a small Vegas-like show palace but with a definitely distinctive Hollywood air, as portraits of the greatest Hollywood stars surround you. Opening night was Friday, January 27; the show was simply amazing, and the room was SRO. It was very exciting with Mac in top form, giving it his all, as the crowd hung on every word/note. I am so pleased that this terrific tribute artist is finally starting to get the attention he so richly deserves. Winning two Eddon Awards for Best Cabaret Artist-Male and Star Making Performer, Mac should be ranked among the best in his field, which includes the likes of Charles Pierce, Jim Bailey, Jimmy James and Steven Brinberg. He has a great singing instrument, is very funny and charismatic - and what amazing acting chops! Just when your sides are splitting as Judy Garland tells a riproaringly riotous anecdote about Noel Coward, you suddenly find yourself moved to tears, when Garland talks about the price a celebrity pays, her insecurities, but always triumphing over them and coming back a winner. This a great opening show with the promise of a sensational year ahead for Mac and his new venue.
