David Garrison, is set to star in the Theatre Zone's production of The Beast of Broadway, about Broadway's most famous producer, David Merrick. The production gives the audience a behind the scenes look at the very intense and inventive mind of the producer of such Broadway hits as: Gypsy, Hello, Dolly, Mack & Mabel, Oliver, 42nd Street, and many more.
The Public Theater announced complete casting for the world premiere of Suzan-Lori Parks' THE BOOK OF GRACE, directed by James Macdonald. The complete cast will feature Amari Cheatom as Buddy, John Doman as Vet, and the previously announced Elizabeth Marvel as Grace. THE BOOK OF GRACE will begin previews on Tuesday, March 2 and run through Sunday, April 4 with an official press opening on Tuesday, March 16. All evening performances for THE BOOK OF GRACE will be at 7:30 PM, except for Saturdays at 8 PM.
According to the New York Times, following his stint as Oscar co-host this Sunday, Alec Baldwin will be heading back to the east coast to star as the psychiatrist Martin Dysart in Peter Shaffer's Equus this summer at Guild Hall in East Hampton, N.Y. The production will run from June 8 - July 13 at the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall.
Today, Bill Geddie, executive producer of ABC's Emmy award-winning talk show 'The View,' announced that Dame Edna Everage is confirmed to co-host ABC's 'The View,' live on Thursday, March 25 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET), a first for the international superstar. Philadelphia Theatre Company announces that Tony Award-winning Walter Bobbie is taking over the direction of Golden Age at The Kennedy Center, running March 12 - April 4. Bobbie, who is currently represented in New York City with the Off-Broadway hit by David Ives Venus in Fur, will replace Austin Pendleton.
