Lantern Theater Company, critically acclaimed in Philadelphia for their annual Shakespearean offering, presents The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as the highlight of their 20th season. Last night, Theatre Philadelphia celebrated the past year in theatre across the region by presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award, cash awards totaling $56,500, and a masquerade after-party that featured performances of some of the highlights of the previous theatre season. Over 400 theatre artists, administrators and supporters attended the sold out ceremony and party held at Arden Theatre Company in Old City. As the new Barrymore Awards system gets underway for the 2013/14 season, Theatre Philadelphia is thrilled to announce its 2013 Theatre Celebration will be held the evening of Today, November 4 at Arden Theatre Company. Four Barrymore Awards will be presented at this year's ceremony: the Lifetime Achievement Award, the F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Theatre Artist, the Brown Martin Philadelphia Award, and the brand new Steve and June Wolfson Award for an Evolving Theatre.

In a theatrical adaptation by Michael Bloom, Lantern Theater Company takes on the typical Jane Austen tale of the self-serving and precocious Emma Woodhouse as she concocts matchmaking schemes for her closest friends.

Three retired military men plan one last great adventure in the Philadelphia premiere of Heroes, Tom Stoppard's adaptation of Gerald Sibleyras' Le Vent Des Peupliers and the final production of Lantern Theater Company's record-smashing 2012/13 season. A vivid portrayal of apartheid-era struggle and political oppression, The Island is a fitting bookend for a season which started with the provocative religious drama New Jerusalem.
