Each year, ACF uncovers a different facet of American music, and in 2017, the Symphony pays tribute to our nation's historic immigrant experience and the American dream by taking inspiration from the Grammy-nominated work composed by Peter Boyer, “Ellis Island: The Dream of America.” This ambitious blending of narration, projected images and orchestral writing highlighting individual immigrants who came to America's shores between 1910 and 1940 offers a searing, emotionally charged concert experience.

FOX News will launch a new centralized long-form specials unit, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of FOX News. Effective immediately, Michael Clemente will transition from his current position managing news to overseeing this new division as Executive Vice President of News Specials. Jay Wallace will be promoted to Executive Vice President of News and Editorial. Both Clemente and Wallace will report directly to Ailes. FOX News' current structure consists of two divisions of news and programming, with the latter run by Senior Executive Vice President, Bill Shine, who also oversees FOX Business Network (FBN), and reports to Ailes. The new specials unit now creates a third organizational division.

This season celebrates the orchestra's 38th season and its 10th year in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Inaugurated by the Symphony in September 2006, this magnificent venue—with its exceptional acoustics and beautiful architecture—changed the world of symphonic music forever in Orange County. Both the orchestra and its audiences suddenly felt the ceiling to their musical opportunities open up to limitless possibilities. It has been the holiday show for the past five seasons and has become a holiday tradition here at MetroStage. Prior to 2010, it had played to sold out houses at Round House Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland, for seven consecutive years ending in 2004.
