Miss Hill: Making Dance Matter tells the inspiring and largely unknown story of Martha Hill, a visionary whose life was defined by her love for dance, and who successfully fought against great odds to establish modern dance as a legitimate art form in America.

The Joyce Theater to Present PARSONS DANCE, 1/21-2/1

Parsons Dance, under the artistic direction of David Parsons, will present a season full of premieres and favorites at The Joyce Theater from January 21 - February 1. New and celebrated American choreographers take center stage as Parsons Dance performs three New York City premieres by acclaimed American choreographers Robert Battle, Trey McIntyre and David Parsons, along with a world premiere from GenerationNOW fellow Natalie Lomonte. Cornish Dance Theater Presents Fall 2014 Concert This Weekend

Cornish Dance Theater, the performing ensemble of the Dance Department at Cornish College of the Arts, will feature choreography by Iyun Ashani Harrison, Jose Limon, Vivian Little, Michele Miller, and Amy O'Neal at its Fall 2014 Concert, which takes place at the Cornish Playhouse this weekend, Nov. 21 and 22. Many of the pieces, including one world premiere from Harrison, focus on issues relevant to the dancers and today's college students.

BWW Reviews: SCROOGE IN ROUGE Generates Lots of Laughs at Rancho Mirage's Desert Rose Playhouse

The Desert Rose Playhouse, in Rancho Mirage California, is presenting a hilariously funny sendup of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, SCROOGE IN ROUGE. The plot's premise is that a small music hall on London's outskirts plans to present A CHRISTMAS CAROL. When all but three actors in the twenty-member cast develop food poisoning, the three decide to go forward with each of them taking on multiple roles. The puns and other corny jokes fly in this brilliant production. If you see only one version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL this year, it should be this one.

St. Ann's Warehouse has announced the cast of the upcoming American Premiere of the National Theatre of Scotland's Let the Right One In, adapted by Jack Thorne from John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel and screenplay, and helmed by Director John Tiffany and Associate Director/Movement Steven Hoggett. Rebecca Benson will return to the role of the vampire girl next door, which she originated in Dundee and then played at the Royal Court and on the West End to critical acclaim. Cristian Ortega will play opposite her as Oskar, the bullied boy Eli befriends.

Thomas/Ortiz Dance Returns to NYC, 11/7-8

Thomas/Ortiz Dance makes a highly anticipated return to New York City with its two-night performance series November 7 - 8 at the Manhattan Movement Arts Center. Led by husband-and-wife team Ted Thomas (former Paul Taylor dancer) and Frances Ortiz, the 12-member contemporary ensemble shares a full evening of the couple's emotional and colorful works including the world premiere of Four Temperaments.

2014 Empty Space...Peter Brook Award Winners Announced

Today's Empty Space...Peter Brook Award 25th Anniversary award ceremony at the National Theatre Studio had Thelma Holt, the presenter, give the winner the cheque for £2000 to the Unicorn Theatre for its wonderful introduction to the classics as well as contemporary theatre for children. All nominees Theatre503, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory, Park Theatre, Union Theatre, and the Orange Tree Theatre received a certificate and critic's speech for distinctive work.
