STANDING ON CEREMONY: The Gay Marriage Plays Open Tonight

Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, which is now in previews and opens at the Minetta Lane Theatre tonight, November 13, assembles some of America's most illustrious and Award-winning playwrights, including Mo Gaffney, Jordan Harrison, Moisés Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, José Rivera, Paul Rudnick and Doug Wright, all responding to one of the defining issues of our day -- the on-going battle for marriage equality throughout the United States - in a heartfelt, funny and altogether illuminating evening of short plays that celebrates the courage to be in a relationship - any relationship.

The Off Broadway production of Standing On Ceremony kicked off its open-ended run on November 7, and featured an introduction from EVan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry. Conceived by Brian Shnipper and directed by Stuart Ross, Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. The official opening night set for Sunday, November 13 and a premiere cast that includes Craig Bierko, Mark Consuelos, Polly Draper, Harriet Harris, Beth Leavel and Richard Thomas. Joan Stein and Richard Frankel (Producers) announced today that the new theatrical event Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, which premieres Off Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre in NYC this fall, will join with Tectonic Theater Project (Moisés Kaufman, Artistic Director; Greg Reiner, Executive Director) to help take the play's message of marriage equality across the globe.

Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays Runs at New Century Theatre, 11/7

Hennepin Theatre Trust and producers Joan Stein and Richard Frankel announced today that the new theatrical event Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays will run for one night only at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's New Century Theatre with Wendy Knox of Frank Theatre directing a cast of six.

Joan Stein and Richard Frankel, producers of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, announced today that Tony Award-winner Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone) and stage and screen veteran Richard Thomas (most recently seen in Race) will complete the show's premiere cast. New York Theatre Workshop's production of The Select (The Sun Also Rises), created by Elevator Repair Service (ERS) based on Ernest Hemingway's novel, The Sun Also Rises, and directed by John Collins, will close on Sunday, October 23 at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery.

Artists Rep Announces STANDING ON CEREMONY Participation

On Monday, November 7, at 7:30 pm, Artists Rep will join 25 theatres in 19 states, along with a growing number of other countries, to present Standing On Ceremony - The Gay Marriage Plays in solidarity for marriage equality.
