Named for local Broadway star Tom Wopat, the Tommy Awards Program at Overture Center for the Arts encourages, recognizes and honors excellence in high school musical theater each year and culminates in an annual awards show in Overture Hall. The 8th Annual Awards Tommy Awards Show will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 and will go on sale to the public Monday, May 22 at 11 a.m.

Drake's Dream enjoyed a limited run at London's Shaftesbury Theatre in the late 1970's following its earlier opening at the Connaught Theatre in Worthing. It is a biographical musical based on Sir Francis Drake's iconic sail around the world during the 16th century and in 1977, was commemorating his 400th anniversary. The show was recorded prior to its West End run before another playwright was brought in to revise the production - it then went on to play the Westminster Theatre early the following year.

The concert also featured performances by legendary R&B group, The O'Jays including rousing version of Love Train, The Backstabbers, For the Love of Money and more. Rising star vocalist, Leon Bridges brought the crowd to its feet with a performance of Mustang Sally and vocalist Andra Day performed her hit song City Burns,followed by a touching performance of Unforgettable in tribute to legendary songstress Natalie Cole. The Blossom Music Festival announces that The Music of Led Zeppelin: A Rock Symphony will be presented at Blossom Music Center on August 20, 2016. Brent Havens will conduct the Blossom Festival Orchestra in the performance, which features vocalist Randy Jackson. Both artists will be making their Blossom Music Festival debut. The touring production of The Who's Classic Quadrophenia, previously scheduled for August 20, has been cancelled.
