National tour achieves all the darkness and light of John Doyle's 2005 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival

Alexander Gemignani, who treaded the dark alleys of Fleet Street as the Beadle in the Broadway revival Sweeney Todd, will portray the title role in the national tour beginning November 13, while David Hess is 'on leave from the show to recover from vocal strain,' reports the production spokespersons.

Sweeney Todd begins its National Tour, with a pre-tour engagement at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theatre (ACT). Previews at ACT begin August 30.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere production of LoveMusik will begin its final week of performances Tuesday, June 19. The limited engagement will end on Sunday, June 24 at the Biltmore Theatre (261 West 47th Street). The production will have played 24 previews and 61 regular performances.

The embryonic lump of coal now inhabiting the Biltmore Theatre has more gem-like qualities to savor and enjoy than the majority of fully gestated musicals now playing around town. It just ain't ready yet, but boy has it got a lot going for it.
