Chicago Sinfonietta Presents Program Blending Live Hip-Hop And Orchestral Classics, 9/14-9/15

The Chicago Sinfonietta opens its 2013-14 season with "eMotion," a concert continuing Music DirectorMei-Ann Chen's award-winning experimental programming style, moving toward the creation of a new breed of collaborative performance experiences. The "eMotion" concert features music inspired by dance, including a World Premiere arrangement commissioned by the Sinfonietta. The Sinfonietta performs "eMotion" twice, once in its downtown Chicago home venue of Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue, Saturday, September 14 at 8 pm and again in the western suburbs at Wentz Concert Hall of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Avenue, Naperville, Sunday, September 15 at 4 pm.

Harlem Quartet and Chicago Sinfonietta Record DELIGHTS & DANCES, Available Now

Making her full-length recording debut, Mei-Ann Chen, music director of the Chicago Sinfonietta, leads the orchestra on a new Cedille Records album featuring the Harlem Quartet in world-premiere recordings of works by contemporary American composers Michael Abels and Randall Craig Fleischer.

Chicago Sinfonietta continues its milestone 25th Anniversary Season with its Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., celebrating the universal lessons of Dr. King with music from the American South to the African plains. Before 2013's special guest - Grammy Award-winning bass-baritone Eric Owens - takes the stage as a vocalist, he will first pick up the baton to make his debut as conductor. Led for a second year by Sinfonietta Music Director Mei-Ann Chen, the annual MLK concert has been a cherished Sinfonietta tradition since its founding in 1987 by Dr. Paul Freeman. The 2013 Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is presented at Wentz Concert Hall of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Avenue in Naperville, Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. and at Orchestra Hall of Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago, Monday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. (the official MLK holiday). The Sinfonietta is proud to have Fifth Third Bank as the Lead Sponsor of this concert.

Chicago Sinfonietta Present 'Past Tense, Future Tense' Tonight

The Chicago Sinfonietta, under the leadership of Music Director Mei-Ann Chen, will present Past Tense, Future Tense at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago on Thursday, April 19, at 7:30 pm. Past Tense; Future Tense pays homage to the orchestra's inception under Paul Freeman in 1987 and will celebrate the orchestra's anniversary with throw back ticket prices of $18 each (for this concert only). Additionally, children's tickets are free with the purchase of adult admission.

Chicago Sinfonietta Announces 12 Days of Gifting

The Chicago Sinfonietta, under the leadership of Music Director Mei-Ann Chen, announces a "Give the Gift of Music" promotion with a Sinfonietta twist: Beginning Friday, December 2, the orchestra will send out one e-mail a day for twelve days with gift ideas ranging from the modest to the spectacular, culminating in a one-of-a-kind opportunity to co-produce your very own Chicago Sinfonietta concert at the city's most iconic outdoor stage.
