Due to unprecedented demand, SpeakEasy Stage will remount its acclaimed production of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS for four additional weeks, December 30, 2016 - January 22, 2017.

Due to overwhelming demand, SpeakEasy Stage Company has added six more performances of its acclaimed New England premiere production of the Kander and Ebb musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS.  The show will now play thru Saturday, November 26.

SpeakEasy Stage Company is presenting the New England premiere of a new comedy by Joshua Harmon (BAD JEWS) prior to its scheduled Broadway run in February, 2017. Under the insightful direction of Producing Artistic Director Paul Daigneault, SIGNIFICANT OTHER offers a cornucopia of talented players (Greg Maraio atop the list), pointed humor, and poignant commentary on the universal human condition.

From September 9 to October 8, 2016, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present SIGNIFICANT OTHER, a sharply observed new comedy about the challenges of finding love and letting go, written by Bad Jews playwright Joshua Harmon.

Award-winning playwright and arts educator Sheri Wilner joins the Boston College Theatre Department this academic year as the Rev. J. Donald Monan, S.J. Professor in Theatre Arts.

From September 9 to October 8, 2016, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present SIGNIFICANT OTHER, a sharply observed new comedy about the challenges of finding love and letting go, written by Bad Jews playwright Joshua Harmon.

Playwrights Obehi Janice of Medford and Rick Park of Boston's South End have been selected from forty applicants to develop an original Boston-centric play as part of SpeakEasy Stage Company's returning new works initiative "The Boston Project."

More than 25 nominations of outstanding actors, directors, designers and ensembles were announced today by The Boston Theater Critics Association (BTCA), with winners to be revealed at the 34th Annual Elliot Norton Awards on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 7 PM, at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center Shubert Theatre.

The coming of age of America during the tumultuous 1960s is brought vividly to life in DOGFIGHT, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul's exquisite little musical now being presented by SpeakEasy Stage Company of Boston. Set in San Francisco on the eve of President Kennedy's assassination, DOGFIGHT pits the innocence of youth against the harsh realities of war as three young Marines dubbed 'the three bees' (for Birdlace, Boland and Bernstein) celebrate their last night at home with their buddies before shipping out to Vietnam.

From tonight, May 7, through June 4, 2016, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present the Boston Professional Premiere of DOGFIGHT, a powerful new musical about unexpected love, loss, and brotherhood, based on the 1991 film starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor.

Boston College's 18th annual Arts Festival, on Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, April 30, 2016, showcases and celebrates campus arts, and highlights the achievements of accomplished alumni arts professionals, students, faculty and other BC community members.

Among this year's nominees for Outstanding Musical Production by a Large Theater are WAITRESS and NATASHA, PIERRE, AND THE  GREAT COMET OF 1812, both at American Repertory Theatre. Tony winner Jessie Mueller and Denee Benton also each received nods for their respective performances. 

Two powerhouse American musicals, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS and THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY;  two acclaimed contemporary plays, GRAND CONCOURSE and SIGNIFICANT OTHER; and the riotous Broadway comedy HAND TO GOD will each enjoy their New England premiere as part of SpeakEasy Stage Company's 2016-2017 Season, the company's Founder and Producing Artistic Director Paul Daigneault announced today.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) today announced the nominees for the 20th Annual IRNE Awards, which honors the best of the previous year's actors, directors, choreographers, designers and companies across the full spectrum of large, mid-size and fringe theater companies.

From January 9 to February 6, 2016, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present the New England Premiere of the recent Broadway version of the acclaimed musical VIOLET. 

SpeakEasy Stage will receive an Arts Work Award of $10,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to help fund a unique collaboration between the company and area gospel choirs as part of its upcoming New England premiere production of the acclaimed Broadway musical VIOLET, running January 9 - February 6, in its home in the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts.
