TheatreWorks' 8th Annual New Works Festival presents nationally-acclaimed singer/composer Vienna Teng In Concert. Stanford grad and software programmer-turned musical artist Vienna Teng returns to Palo Alto to present selections from her best-selling albums, including her new album, Inland Territory, and songs from her new musical. Variety heralds Vienna Teng as 'singular among her peers' for her poetic introspective lyrics and cool ethereal vocals.

La Jolla Playhouse announced today the addition of the world-premiere musical Bonnie & Clyde, to its 2009-10 season, replacing The Big Time. This production features music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel), lyrics by Tony Award-winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard, Song and Dance), book by Ivan Menchell (The Cemetery Club, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), and direction by Jeff Calhoun (Deaf West's Big River and Pippin, Grease!). Bonnie & Clyde will run November 10 - December 20, 2009 in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre.

Variety reports that following a seven-month, $15 million renovation, Gotham's Beacon Theater will reopen with a pair of Paul Simon concerts on Feb. 13 and 14.The 2,800-seat, Upper West Side showcase, which Cablevision's MSG Entertainment acquired in November 2006, originally opened in 1929. Designed by Chicago architect Walter Ahlschlager, it had been used for opera, films, vaudeville and theatrical productions. In 1979 it received landmark designation, and it has functioned primarily as a concert venue since the late 1980s.
