FLIPSIDE was selected from nearly 3,500 national productions to attend the 2012 Regional & National Kennedy Center Festivals. The piece won numerous honors at the Kennedy Center, including Best Musical. Patty Farmer, author of "The Persian Room Presents," joins a celebrated list of authors including Dick Cavett, Jack Cavanaugh, Hilary Knight, Jeffrey Lyons, Dr. Ruth Westheimer and more for "Authors Night," 2012. This years Honorary Chairs include Lynn Sher, Barbara Goldsmith, Dava Sobel, David Baldacci, Robert Caro, Dick Cavett and founding co-chair Alec Baldwin.
59E59 Theaters has announced the roster of shows for the Fall 2012 Season, including the New York premiere revival of Stephen Schwartz' WORKING, beginning Dec. 1, 2012. This is the newly revised, critically acclaimed version of WORKING that recently had a successful run at the Broadway Playhouse in Chicago, after premiering at the Asolo in Sarasota and Old Globe in San Diego.
A troupe of actors with a penchant for creating unexpected performances on stage will collaborate with an organization devoted to creating theater in unexpected locales as The Vacant Lot Theatre Company debuts, A Child's Drawing of a Monster, in a garage space re-imagined as a performance space by the nonprofit arts advocate, chashama. A selection of six abstract works by Brown University's head of playwrighting, Erik Ehn, A Child's Drawing of a Monster will open at Moe's Taxi, 26-15 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City (one block from Court Square subway stop on the 7, E, G and M lines), tonight, July 12, with additional shows on July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 21. Performance times are 8 PM Wednesday through Saturdays and Sunday at 7 PM. Tickets are $18 USD.

Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten announced today the full cast and creative teams for Last of the Red Hot Lovers, which will be presented on the Nikos Stage from July 11 through July 22 (opening July 12), and the Preview Production of Far From Heaven, which will play the Main Stage from July 19 through July 29 (opening July 21). Both shows begin rehearsals today in preparation for their runs at the Festival.

Patrons were treated to a classic trip down memory lane this week as four leading ladies of the legendary Persian Room New York came together for a book signing. Lainie Zazan, Michele Lee, Connie Stevens and Barbara Van Orden gathered at Barnes and Noble in California's The Grove to celebrate the release of Patty Farmer's new book "The Persian Room Presents." Anecdotes involving audience celebrity sightings included Barbara Streisand (by Stevens), Milton Berle (by Van Orden), Jack Jones and his thighs (by Lee) and a mob king who struck her while performing (by Kazan).
