Nicolas Kent, the award-winning artistic director of London's acclaimed Tricycle Theatre, directs a new version of A Walk in the Woods, Lee Blessing's Pulitzer-nominated play about nuclear negotiations, at Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT. For the first time, with the playwright's input, the play will feature a woman portraying the American negotiator.

The New York Times reports that Gregory Itzin, most famous for his portrayal of Charles Logan in Fox's hit series '24,' will join the previously announced Norbert Leo Butz (as 'Jeffrey Skilling'), Stephen Kunken (as 'Andy Fastow') in the upcoming Broadway production of Lucy Prebble's 'Enron.' Itzin will portray disgraced Enron chairman Kenneth Lay.

'Enron' had its premiere in Chichester, has since transferred to the West End's Noel Coward Theatre, and is now up on the marquee awaiting the start of its Broadway previews slated for April 2010 - and all within the span of one year.

West End 2009 Season Topples Multiple Records

The Society of London Theaters released figures today revealing 2009 was an extremely strong year for West End theater as it broke both box office and attendance records, according to a report in Variety. Attendance was up 5.5% from 2008 with a total of over 14 million, which in turn put the rise in box office profits at a 7.6% rate of increase from 2008.

A new promotional photo from the West End's production of the play ENRON has appeared in a new Vanity Fair feature. Inspired by the real-life financial scandal of 2001, ENRON, which was commissioned by Headlong Theatre, premiered this past summer at the Minerva Theatre Chichester, and then moved for a six-week run at The Royal Court Theatre where it played through November 8, 2009. The play will open at West End's Noel Coward Theatre later this month.
