Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that Al Pacino's star power has earned The Merchant of Venice the winners spot for the fall's highest advance generating show. The production, which opens at the Broadhurst Theatre on November 7, 2010, has reportedly taken in approximately $4M, beating out all incoming fall plays and musicals.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey announced the casting of Lisa Harrow as Queen Eleanor in The Lion in Winter by James Goldman running on the Theatre's Main Stage from October 20 through November 14. Company member Laila Robins was originally slated to portray the role of Eleanor, but had to withdraw due to a scheduling conflict. The casting of Ms. Harrow is an exciting opportunity for Shakespeare Theatre audiences to be introduced to the work of this remarkable actress. Eric Stonestreet has receieved the 2010 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Modern Family. Stonestreet plays 'Cameron' on the series.
