Guitarist Anthony Mazzella Plays Canyon Moon 8/27

Guitarist extraordinaire Anthony Mazzella returns to the Sedona stage for the first time since early spring for a concert at the Canyon Moon Theatre. He will be performing songs from the Heavenly Guitar and Unity CD's as well as some new unreleased material.

National Jazz Museum Host Free Events May 18 & 20

The National Jazz Museum in Harlem will host two free events May 18 and 20 at the Visitors Center (104 East 126th Street, Stuite 2C). Special Guest New Orleans poet/performer Chuck Perkins will participate on Tuesday, May 18 for Jazz for Curious Listeners Tuning in to Treme: Hymns, Dirges and Misdemeanors starting at 7pm. On Thursday, May 20 NJMH welcomes Dave Samuels, Vibraphonist, educatour and author will participate at 6:30pm. On Friday, May 21 at the Dwyer Cultural Center 'Take the A Train: A Big Band Swing Dance' featuring NJMH All Star Big Band directed by Loren Schoenberg. Tickets are $20. 'Highlights in Jazz' Series Ends 5/13 with Billy Taylor Trio, et al.

After 37 years, Jack Kleinsinger has decided to end his 'Highlights in Jazz' concert series. May 13, 2010 (the 300th concert of the series) will be the last 'Highlights' show. Kleinsinger notes that his decision was not an artistic one, but a financial one: 'If someone can come up with the financing necessary to produce the annual series I'll continue,' he said. 'But with cuts in arts funding and private sponsorships for jazz down it's not likely I'll continue.'
