George Cole and 'Eurocana' are set to dazzle Studio 55's stage with original music, melodies and lyrics that evoke a time gone by. 'Hot Jazz' with an acoustically flavored French string-driven sound that invokes the dynamic styles of Gypsy jazz and swing a la Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. George Cole has been influenced in his original music by the great composers of the swing era like Cole Porter and George Gershwin. His exciting band 'Eurocana' threads together the material to create a riveting synthesis of Eurocana flair.
Maureen McGovern returns to The RRazz Room to perform her new show, 'dangling conversations...' With an introspective look at our very unintrospective times, she celebrates the music of singer/songwriters from the American Pop Songbook, with songs by Paul Simon, J.D. Souther, Don Henley, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springstein, Jimmy Webb, Pete Seeger, Laura Nyro, among others, including classic songs such as 'Help Me,' 'Time and Love,' 'Turn, Turn, Turn,' 'An American Tune,' 'Up Up and Away', 'Faithless Love' and many more. Mo Rocca, of Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show,' and Amy Goodman, New York Times best-selling author and host of 'Democracy Now!,' were special guests for The Onion-sponsored Happy Sunshine Kung Fu Flower launched at The Zipper Factory for a 10PM show on March 21.
The show runs in San Francisco through May 14, followed by Boston from May 31-June 25, and then Broadway where it begins previews on July 7 for a July 28 opening.
