Public's UNDER THE RADAR Series Begins 1/7

The Public Theater will begin performances for UNDER THE RADAR 2009 on Wednesday, January 7, 2009. This 12-day festival, committed to tracking new theater from across the U.S. and around the world, will run through Sunday, January 18. Tickets are $15 to UNDER THE RADAR shows at The Public and are currently on-sale.

HAIR Having Trouble Raising Money, 'I Will Capitalize HAIR in the End' says Producer McCann

In a feature story in the New York Times about the effect of the recession and Wall Street slide on both ends of the theatre business - ticket sales, and those raising producer dollars, they note that Elizabeth I. McCann, lead producer for HAIR has only raised $3 million of the $6.5 million needed to capitalize the production which is due to start rehearsals next month on Broadway. 'I'll go on record and say I will capitalize 'Hair' in the end. But it's very tough.' said McCann to the paper, however.

For the first time, Patinkin will present three of his most popular concerts, Mamaloshen, Celebrating Sondheim, and Dress Casual, in repertory with Paul Ford on piano, December 8 through December 21. Producers for the Broadway bound revival of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical have announced that the show will now begin previews at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre beginning February 10 (three days earlier than previously scheduled), with an opening set for March 5.

ROAD SHOW is a new musical featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by John Weidman, and direction and scenic design by John Doyle. The cast of 17 features Michael Cerveris and Alexander Gemignani as the two Mizner brothers. ROAD SHOW will run through Sunday, December 28th. Hamingson) is proud to announce the return of the Native Theater Festival, a four day festival dedicated to presenting extraordinary theatrical work by Native theater artists from the U.S. and Canada. Now in its second year, the Native Theater Festival will run November 12 to November 15 at The Public Theater and will feature three free readings of new works by Native playwrights followed by post-show discussions; a concert by Native and African-American singer Martha Redbone; topical field discussions on issues of particular concern to artists in the Native theater community; and a conversation with Oskar Eustis and other artists on politics and performance that will be open to the general public.

Naked Angels Extends FAULT LINES Through 11/9

Due to demand for tickets, Naked Angels (Geoffrey Nauffts, Artistic Director and Brittany O'Neill, Managing Director) has extended the world premiere engagement of Stephen Belber's new dark comedy Fault Lines, directed by David Schwimmer. Fault Lines opened September 30, 2008 at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street). The run will now continue through November 9, 2008.
