On Tuesday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m., Elements Theatre Company of Orleans, MA will host a panel discussion, "The Importance of Live Theater in Our Culture: The Art of Making Humans More Human" at Back Bay Events Center (180 Berkeley Street, Boston, MA). Panelists are Jared Bowen, WGBH Executive Arts Editor, Joyce Kulhawik, President of the Boston Theater Critics Association, Julie Hennrikus, Executive Director of StageSource; Georgia Lyman, award-winning actress, and Fr. County's 100th Anniversary, Chalk Repertory Theatre will premiere GALLERY SECRETS, four new short plays commissioned by four Los Angeles playwrights performed after hours at NHM. Each play is inspired by an assigned gallery, and set in the time period when that gallery was built, uncovering 100 years of history, architecture and exhibits.

Thrillpeddlers announces their annual Halloween Extravaganza Shocktoberfest 14: Jack the Ripper - An Evening of Horror, Madness, Spanking and Song Commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Jack The Ripper Murders in London. Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Wilson, Managing Director, presents Scott and Hem in the Garden of Allah, a world premiere play written and directed by BSC Associate Artist Mark St. Germain about the friendship and rivalry between F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway.

California Shakespeare Theater continues its 2013 season with Oscar Wilde's comedy, Lady Windermere's Fan, directed by Oregon Shakespeare Festival company member Christopher Liam Moore in his Bay Area directorial debut. Synetic Theater invites you to the annual Vampire's Ball on Friday, November 1. The Vampire's Ball has been a tradition at Synetic since 2007, when it was originally organized in conjunction with The Fall of the House of Usher. This year, The Vampire's Ball will follow another creepy and supernatural Synetic stand-out, The Picture of Dorian Gray. After being treated to a spectacular performance, guests will dance the night away in Synetic's new studio, courtesy of Resident Composer and Halloween DJ Konstantine Lortkipanidze. The event will also include an open bar, light appetizers and costume contest with fabulous Synetic prizes! Al Pacino was in a play that he was making into a film and simultaneously directing a documentary about the production. He will join us at the Egyptian and Aero Theatres to discuss his obsession with Oscar Wilde's SALOME.

Theater at Monmouth's 44th season continues with the opening of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera, Patience, or Bunthorne's Bride on Friday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. The society ladies in the village are mad for aesthetic poets but the poets are in love with Patience, the village milkmaid. The young ladies' military suitors see no point to overblown verses but give it a try to win back the ladies' hearts. Things are touch and go for a while but in the end everyone lands a suitable partner, even if it is only a tulip or lily.

The Kennedy Center hosts its 12th annual Page-to-Stage new play festival from Saturday, August, 31 to Monday, September 2, 2013, featuring more than 40 theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area, all with a mission to produce and support new work. The Velocity of Autumn, a new two-character play from Cleveland-based playwright Eric Coble, opens at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith and by special arrangement with HOP Theatricals, LLC.
