Burgoyne.

California Shakespeare Theater Receives State-of-the-Art Sound System

California Shakespeare Theater today announced it has received a world-class sound system courtesy of Meyer Sound of Berkeley and Sound Associates of New York. The new audio upgrade includes loudspeakers, digital audio distribution, and control interface manufactured by Meyer Sound at its Berkeley headquarters. In addition, Sound Associates is providing a Shure digital wireless system with the goal to enhance the voices of the artists and to make the productions easier to hear in the intimate Bruns Amphitheater setting. The state-of-the-art system will debut with Cal Shakes' opening production of the 2013 season, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose.

The Classical Theatre Company (CTC) is entering the company's sixth season, and is proud to announce the plays that make up its three full Mainstage productions in 2013-2014: William Shakespeare's Hamlet, Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, and finally The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. The Alley Theatre is currently presenting Jeffrey Hatcher's 2011 literary mash-up SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE SUICIDE CLUB. The play had its world premiere at The Arizona Theatre Company, and garnered mixed to positive reviews. In the play Jeffrey Hatcher attempts the tall order of mixing the literary genius and worlds of Arthur Conan Doyle and Robert Louis Stevenson. The end result is a bland mystery with an entirely underwhelming climax.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) has announced its 2013-2014 mainstage season. MET's sixteenth mainstage season will run from September of 2013 through June of 2014 and will feature a British comic classic, an American masterpiece and several contemporary crowd pleasers. MET Artistic Director Tad Janes believes that each of the six mainstage shows in MET's upcoming season will help, 'build on the strong reputation we have earned over the past decade and a half as a destination for challenging, entertaining, professional theater.'

The Festival opens with New York premiere of Moonlight and Love Songswritten by Scott C. Sickles. Directed by Steven Petrillo, the 7-member cast features Nick Bailey, D.H. Johnson, Kathryn Markey, Gerald McCullouch, Robert Meksin, Corey Richmond Skaggs and Christine Verleny. Performances begin Thursday, May 23 and will continue through Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex (312 West 36th Street). Opening night is Friday, May 24, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds from GAYFEST NYC benefit the Harvey Milk High School.

Mint Theater Announces Its EnrichMINT Events for A PICTURE OF AUTUMN

Mint Theater (Jonathan Bank, Artistic Director) today announced its line-up of EnrichMint Events for its upcoming production of A Picture of Autumn by N.C. Hunter. For each of their productions, Mint Theater hosts a number of post-show speakers for what are called "EnrichMint" Events. These post-show discussions are free and open to the public. The speakers may be experts on an author or era, or leaders in a humanities field that may bring an entirely different perspective on the play.
