Review - A Night At The Operetta: It's Outta Here!
by Kristin Salaky - Jul 18, 2008

On the night when baseball's all-stars were blasting dingers into the bleachers of Yankee Stadium, the cast of Scott Siegel's A Night At The Operetta, was having their own home run derby on the stage of Town Hall, knocking melodies by Victor Herbert, Sigmund Romberg and Rudolf Friml out of the park.  And in both cases, the crowd frequently went nuts.

Review - Rooms: a rock romance & Guys and Dolls: a musical fable of Broadway
by Kristin Salaky - Mar 17, 2009

The opposites attracting plot is probably as old as romantic comedy itself, but even if Rooms: a rock romance follows familiar paths, the Paul Scott Goodman (book/music/lyrics) and Miriam Gordon (book) two-person musical is such a buoyant, funny and upbeat affair that the clichés of the story are conquered by the cleverness and exuberance with which the story is told. Under Scott Schwartz's swift and breezy direction, the 90-minute one-act scoots the audience along on an immensely enjoyable ride.

Review - Music In The Air: The Lullaby of Munich
by Kristin Salaky - Feb 6, 2009

But the creators of Show Boat, just five years earlier, weren't done quite yet.

Review - South Pacific: Why Do The Wrong People Travel?
by Michael Dale - Apr 20, 2008

With all due respect to Kelli O'Hara, Paulo Szot, director Bartlett Sher and even Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan, the real star of the Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific is orchestrator Robert Russell Bennett, whose sublime work from the original 1949 production is now enchanting contemporary audiences.
