BWW Review: Lyric Stage's SALESMAN Merits Attention
by Nancy Grossman - Feb 22, 2014

Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN is sixty-five years old, but unlikely to face the same fate as its tragic protagonist Willy Loman. With Janie E. Howland's marvelously evocative set, Gail Astrid Buckley's period-appropriate costumes, Karen Perlow's lighting effects, and Dewey Dellay's brilliant original compositions, Artistic Director Spiro Veloudos guides us across the bridge to the era of the play. Strong performances abound, but Paula Plum and Kelby T. Akin excel as Loman's wife and prodigal son.

This story of a king's obsession with obtaining a male heir is not one of Shakespeare's commonly produced works, but the Actor Shakespeare Project's production was beautifully familiar and accessible.

BWW Review: Bond Meets the Bard at Vaquero Playground
by Nancy Grossman - May 12, 2013

FROM DENMARK WITH LOVE: A 007/HAMLET MASH-UP may be your poison if you know your James Bond movies and the crux of the Shakespeare tragedy. At times difficult to follow, the two vehicles blend better than you might think, thanks to clear direction and an energetic, fun-loving ensemble. Daniel Jones has enough good looks to play both leading men and has his hands full with the Bond girls. Playwright John J. King fulfills his mission to provide mirth while helping to save the earth.

BWW Reviews: Actor Shakespeare Project's PERICLES, An Opinion Changer
by Alexandra Lonati - Apr 28, 2013

It takes a pretty special production to fully capture my interest for the entirety of a Shakespearean work, particularly given the length of most of his plays. The Actor Shakespeare Project's production of Pericles, performed at the Modern Theatre, is one of these special productions. One of Shakespeare's least produced pieces, Pericles tells the complicated story of a nobleman's journey from land to land, escaping murder, falling in love, losing his family, and regaining hope.
