BWW Review: THE CHALK GARDEN, Chichester Festival Theatre

The Chalk Garden takes place in the summer of 1955 in the garden room of Mrs St Maugham's house in a seaside village in Sussex. It was written by Enid Bagnold (author of National Velvet) while she was living in Rottingdean.

RSC to Broadcast HENRY IV Parts 1, 2 & THE GENTLEMEN OF VERONA as Part of Live from Stratford-Upon-Avon, Summer 2014

RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran has announced the company's Summer 2014 season in Stratford-upon-Avon with three early titles in the Company's six year journey across Shakespeare's entire First Folio of 36 plays. They are Henry IV Part I, Henry IV Part II, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. They will be shot for broadcast as part of "Live from Stratford-upon-Avon," a program that screens the world's greatest classical theatre company from Shakespeare's home town around the world through a continued partnership with Picturehouse Entertainment. This year also marks the 450th anniversary year of Shakespeare's birth.

RSC to Tour HENRY IV PART I and II this Autumn

The Royal Shakespeare Company will tour Henry IV Parts I and II, Shakespeare's celebrated history plays, to Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Norwich, Salford, Bradford, Bath and Canterbury between September - November 2014. The productions will take to the road after a season at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon between March - September 2014, and before playing at the Barbican in London between November 2014 - January 2015.

Music Box to Screen RSC's RICHARD II with David Tennant, 12/7 & 18

Music Box Theatre expands its Stage-to-Screen programming this winter, importing even more captured live stage performances from the UK than ever before. BWW Interviews: Jane Lapotaire Talks RICHARD II at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre

I recently sat down to chat with Jane Lapotaire in her dressing room at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre as she prepared for a matinee performance of Richard II. As we talked, Lapotaire chortled over a greeting card (sent by a long time actor friend) that featured a spotted pig wearing a crown. Lapotaire explained the joke: the pig was a Gloucester Old Spot--a sly reference to Lapotaire's role as the Duchess of Gloucester in the production of Richard II currently playing to sell-out crowds.

RSC's RICHARD II, Starring David Tennant, Comes to US Cinemas, Now thru Jan 2

The Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) production of William Shakespeare's RICHARD II with David Tennant in the title role opened last night to rave reviews. The production will be shown across the US and Canada from today, December 3, 2013 to January 2, 2014 as the premiere broadcast of 'Live from Stratford-upon Avon,' a program that will screen RSC productions from Shakespeare's home town around the world.

Folger Shakespeare Library Screens RSC's RICHARD II with David Tennant Today

Folger Shakespeare Library presents a special preview screening of RSC Live's production of Shakespeare's Richard II, the first-ever cinema broadcast from the stage of the RSC, captured from Shakespeare's hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon. Featuring Dr. Who star David Tennant, this acclaimed production will be shown for only one night on the Folger stage tonight, December 2 at 7pm. Tickets to see the American premiere of this film are $20. The broadcast is a preface to Folger Theatre's production of Richard III, which begins performances on January 28, 2014.
