BWW Reviews: LITTLE MERMAID, JR. Swims Through San Antonio

The Woodlawn Theatre has been a part of San Antonio for many years. It has delivered wonderful shows to its audiences over the years. This year is no different. Recently playing there was THE LITTLE MERMAID, JR. with its aspiring cast and it was a delight to all who attended.

Kirk Franklin Joins GSN's AMERICAN BIBLE CHALLENGE as Musical Co-Host

GSN announced today that GRAMMY winner and multi-platinum-selling musician and producer Kirk Franklin - known for his unique style of Gospel music that blends contemporary sounds, flawless harmonies and inspiring lyrics - will join THE AMERICAN BIBLE CHALLENGE as musical co-host for the second season of the network's highly rated original one-hour game show.

Kaling, Novak to Return for THE OFFICE Series Finale

TVGuide.com reports that former Dunder Mifflin employees Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak are set to return for the one-hour series finale of NBC's THE OFFICE. The news was revealed by Office showrunner Greg Daniels. Zach Woods, who portrayed 'Gabe' on the series, will join them as well.

The Trap Door Theatre is extending The Unveiling & Dozens of Cousins through February 9th, 2013. Written by Václav Havel, translated by Jan Novak and directed by Beata Pilch, the cast features Tiffany Bedwell, Kevin Cox, Ryan Czerwonko and Michael Doonan.

ESPN2 Broadcasts 2013 AUSTRALIAN OPEN, Beginning Today

The 2013 tennis season begins with the Australian Open presented by Franklin Templeton Investments with more than 100 live hours on ESPN2 HD and 600+ on ESPN3. Each year, the marathon live action seen overnight in the U.S. from Melbourne has led to some of the most dramatic action in the sport in recent years. The action gets underway today, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. ET with a 12.5-hour telecast.

Today in 1940, Pal oey opened at Broadway's Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Pal Joey is a musical with a book by John O'Hara (from his novel of the same title) and music and lyrics by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart based on a character and situations O'Hara created in a series of short stories published in The New Yorker. It includes two songs that have become standards: 'I Could Write a Book' and 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered'.

Trap Door Theatre will present Jan Novak's translation of Vaclav Havel's The Unveiling, directed by Beata Pilch. The Unveiling is a humorous commentary of a marginalized man taunted with the life he could be living. What happens when a man visits friends for the grand reveal of their new décor and discovers that their next project is him?

Today in 2008, the third Broadway revival of Pal Joey opened at Studio 54, where it ran for 85 performances. Pal Joey is a musical with a book by John O'Hara (from his novel of the same title) and music and lyrics by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart based on a character and situations O'Hara created in a series of short stories published in The New Yorker. The original 1940 Broadway production was directed by George Abbott and starred Gene Kelly. There have been several revivals since, including a 2008-09 Broadway run, and a 1957 film adaptation starring Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth and Kim Novak.

Summit Entertainment Picks Up the Rights to Horror Novel BREED

Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, has acquired the rights to 'Breed,' a novel by Chase Novak aka Scott Spencer. Summit has hired Burr Steers to write and direct the horror thriller which David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films will produce. Recognizing the tremendous potential of the novel, Mulholland Books ordered a sequel novel to follow Breed before it was published in September 2012.

UNIQLO to Donate Clothing to Sandy Relief

UNIQLO, the global clothing retailer, announced the creation of a 10-week volunteer and donation program to distribute 100,000 donated items of HEATTECH and 10,000 items of Ultra Light Down jackets to those in regions affected by Hurricane Sandy.

2012 TONY AWARDS Among Writers Guild of America Nominations

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in television, news, radio, promotional writing, and graphic animation during the 2012 season. The winners will be honored at the 2013 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.
