NextStop and Faction of Fools Co-Produce a New Adaptation of PINOCCHIO!, Now thru 3/30

Faction of Fools Theatre Company and NextStop Theatre Company are proud to announce their upcoming co-production of PINOCCHIO!, a new adaptation of Carlo Collodi's beloved tale about a marionette's journey to become a real boy, running today, March 8-30, 2014 at the Industrial Strength Theatre in Herndon. Written and Directed by Paul Reisman, this production will be the first collaboration by the two DC area theatre companies, as well as Faction's first play specifically geared toward young audiences.

Dallas Opera's DIE TOTE STADT Opens 3/21

The Dallas Opera is proud to present the third production of the company's 2013-2014 “By Love Transformed” Season, Erich Wolfgang Korngold's late-Viennese style masterpiece, DIE TOTE STADT (“The Dead City”) which received an unprecedented two-city world premiere in 1920.

Kansas City Ballet Presents NEW MOVES, 3/28-4/5

Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced New Moves, a unique performance event designed to search out, develop and showcase emerging choreographers, both locally (some within Kansas City Ballet) and from the national dance scene. It is designed to provide time and space for dancers and guest choreographers to create world premiere works. This season's choreographers include four Company dancers Travis Guerin, Anthony Krutzkamp, Charles Martin, and Ian Poulis and two guest choreographers, Erin Novak-Lustig, the artistic director from Seamless Dance Theatre who recently was honored by the Federation of Dance Competitions as its 2013 Humanitarian of the Year, and Ilya Kozadayev, a former soloist with Houston Ballet and currently on faculty with Oklahoma University pursuing his Master's Degree in Choreography.

The Dallas Opera has announced a cast change for the third production of the company's 2013-2014 'By Love Transformed' Season, Erich Wolfgang Korngold's late-Romantic masterpiece, DIE TOTE STADT ('The Dead City').

Comedian Lewis Black Brings THE RANT IS DUE to the Van Wezel Tonight

Tonight, February 15, 2014, two-time Grammy Award-winner, and 5 time nominee, comedian Lewis Black, will present his current tour, The Rant is Due. Known for his no-holds-barred desire to pick apart the socio-political landscape, Black has an uncanny ability to take on just about any subject matter and find something worth taunting. His ability to articulate these 'rants' into a well thought out philosophical argument has earned him numerous awards, multiple Comedy Central and HBO standup specials, and a long list of movie appearances.

Columbus All-City Orchestra to Perform Free Concert, 3/2

Conducted by CSO Associate Conductor Peter Stafford Wilson, the Columbus All-City Orchestra will present a free, public concert on Sunday, March 2, at Mees Auditorium, Capital University, at 7pm. Now in its seventh year, the orchestra's 49 members are selected from musicians in grades 9-12 attending Columbus City Schools. The program is tuition free for students and is funded by Safelite AutoGlass, The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation, The Paul Duke Foundation, and the Morris and Emma Woodhull Fund of The Columbus Foundation.

EPIX to Present AND THE ENVELOPE PLEASE... on 2/17 & 24

Premium entertainment network EPIX will celebrate the Academy Awards with aseries of programs and films devoted to all things Oscar. And the Envelope Please..., a series in collaboration with the Los Angeles Times, featuring panel interviews with casts and crews of this year's Oscar hopefuls, moderated by writers from the Los Angeles Times. Jungle Theatre Opens SHAKESPEARE'S WILL Tonight

To open its 2014 Season, the Jungle Theater presents the regional premiere of SHAKESPEARE'S WILL, written by award-winning Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen. After the death of William Shakespeare, his widow, Anne Hathaway (played by Cathy Fuller in her Jungle debut), recalls her life with - and without - the enigmatic poet. Artistic Director Bain Boehlke designs and directs an imaginative story of a wife and mother who made tremendous sacrifices for love and life, opening tonight, February 7 and running through March 23 at the Jungle Theater, 2951 Lyndale Av. S. in Minneapolis.

DiverseWorks and Nameless Sound Present ANTHOLOGY, MEDITATIONS, 2/15

In conjunction with the exhibition SonicWorks, on view at DiverseWorks through March 1, 2014, Nameless Sound and DiverseWorks present a marathon of back-to-back performances of scores by Pauline Oliveros, an acclaimed composer, performer, humanitarian, and important pioneer in American experimental music. For more than four decades Oliveros, a Houstonnative, has explored sound, forging new ground for herself and others. Anthology, Meditations celebrates Oliveros' important role in the founding and mentoring of Nameless Sound, as well as her connections to DiverseWorks' history as an important presenter and champion of sonic art in Houston.
